Flowers not as advertised

Hi Guys, thanks for all your replies. Just to confirm the flowers were for my parents anniversary, so my mum was bound to comment on the bunch as she was confused as to why I would have ordered such a colourless bunch compared to usual.
The florist was local as it came up on the search I did of local florists in my area. I'm sure the flowers came from a place only 10 mins away (which I would be happy to go to to swap the flowers) but I don't see why I should go 40 mins out of my way to Chessington.
If the florist had just substituted the orange then I wouldn't have minded. It was like getting daisy's when you ordered roses.
I will upload a picture but it keeps saying I can't as I'm a new user....can anybody help me with this??0 -

Give them a phonecall, I've always found them most helpful, and happy to discuss all options. Once the kind lady put together a bouquet and delivered it to a friend who was having a hard time within a couple of hours
You'll get current information of what's in stock, what's in the best condition etc
See, this is what I always thought; my only exception was getting flowers delivered to my girlfriend (now wife) in Holland (the value there is AMAZING compared to here).
HOWEVER, I called a florist just down the road from where we used to live to get flowers delivered for either my wife's birthday, or our anniversary; I forget which lol. I asked for some very specific service (the reason I called direct) because I wanted the flowers delivered before a certain time on the morning morning as I knew my wife would be going out. I also asked for the bouquet to contain NO lillies (we both can't stand them), NOTHING pink, and as little of the green weedy stuff, particularly the type with the tiny white tufts all over.
Take a guess what was delivered LATE (after we'd both arrived home in the afternoon!!). We got pink lillies, white lilles, some other weedy looking flowers, padded out with MASSES of crap. I was livid.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0 -

It does state on their website quite clearly that the cut off point is between 2pm - 3pm depending upon what day you order so why would they call you to tell you the cut off point?
It also states clearly in the T&C "All Products are subject to availability. In the event of any supply difficulties, we reserve the right to substitute a Product of equivalent value and quality without notice."
This is a general T&C from ALL florists.
You mentioned that they weren't "nice" but the only reason you give is that it contained blue flowers. Thats a ridiculous reason to state they "arent nice" - was they dying etc?
The florist has offered for you to have another bunch of flowers - I think the florist has been more than reasonable in this case. If the flowers had been dying etc then yes, by all means the florist should re-deliver. But no, I dont think that the florist should have to redeliver because someone doesnt like blue flowers. Just tell them to pluck them out of the bunch if they are that bothered
Well I do - particularly when it cost as much as it did and when the colour which was selected was as far away from the colour which arrived as you could probably get.
Even if the florist could not supply the exact colours requested then I think she could have made more effort to have got colours as near to those requested as possible.
My OH hates orange flowers and detests certain flowers. I would be extremely displeased if I paid £45 for a specific bouquet and it arrived containing something my OH did not like.0 -

But I bet your Mrs was just grateful you remembered! There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

Indeed. We did get a free orchid out of them because of it, mind. I went in and had a right go at them lol.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0 -
Please note that due to the seasonal availability of flowers it may be necessary to vary individual stems from those shown. Our skilled florists may substitute flowers for one similar in style, quality and value. Where our designs include a sundry item such as a vase or basket it may not always be possible to include the exact item as displayed. If such an occasion arises we will make every effort to replace the item with a suitable alternative.
T&C seems quite clear
however
I have complained to interflora before, where the delivered something to my then GF which was completely different to their design and description, i wanted a really colourful bunch to cheer my gf up following her going through a tough time
they tried to refer to the substitutions etc but i sent them photo of what was delivered and what was expected and they accepted it was significantly different and not a colourful bunch etc and offered a refund, I just said to deliver the flowers i actually ordered the next day (took about a week to get to this point). was a pain but i understand how disappointing it was, the Gf was happy with the initial flowers received, especially as she wasnt expecting them but it just didnt meet my expectations (that their website had set) regardless she was Very happy when she got another bunch0 -
Mimi, you check websites t & c and you will find that written there but as I explained there is a limit on substituting. If you order goods online and they send you say, a bright yellow coat instead of a classy black coat, and then say ' well time was getting on you know, drive to our suppliers and swop it if you don't like it' what would you say?
And Daisy flower, the reason you have seen a few complaints about flowers on here is that some florists send out truely shocking work. Also, if the sender is in London and the recipient is in Scotland you may get the odd florist realising that the sender isn't going to see the flowers and the sender isn't going to say ' oi Fred, the flowers you ordered for me were vile!' so they don't make an effort and frankly when that happens they deserve to be complained about.
I'd of checked the terms and conditions before ordering - realised this MAY happen and would have rang them first thing the following morning to double check the order rather than relying on them - That way, If they had told me at 9am I couldnt have what I ordered I could seek somewhere else. I certainly wouldnt rely on them to call me if it was a clause in the T&C's but then neither would I wait a day before an event to order something (I'm terrible for planning a head - I had xmas 2011 presents in January)Hi Guys, thanks for all your replies. The OP wasnt clear that it is 40 minutes out of your way it just mentioned you had to go "all the way into chessington" - which, for all i know is a 5 minute car drive for you. Do you not know someone who is going to Chessington who can pick them up? Is it 40 minutes each way or 20?Well I do - particularly when it cost as much as it did and when the colour which was selected was as far away from the colour which arrived as you could probably get.

then presumably if you was ordering a bunch of flowers and the T&C's said they MAY need to change it you would state "dont put XX in there please"
(If OP had mentioned to the florist that they wanted bright flowers and not anything blue then fair enough - i see the issue - but the OP didnt)
The florist has stated the OP can have another bunch of flowers (Ok, so they need to pick them up) . . . I dont understand what more the OP wants?
OP - does your parents live near the florist? Could you not try and comprimise with the florist that next time they have a delivery in the area to take your parents flowers if you cant pick them up?0 -
