    Hi,

Does anyone know when the clubcard points that you get for spending on your tescos credit card get added to the clubcard account?

    Thanks

I have just cancelled my Tesco credit card but mine used to go on monthly when my statement came out.

Correct, nothing to do with the financial statement at all.

Some people have it linked to their ordinary card, others have it separate.

  • I've shopped with tesco for around 15yrs now, around 11yrs ago i moved house so i logged in to do my online shop as normal and changed my address, then in 2008 i noticed they where offering extra cards for family members so i took advantage of this offer and requested some new cards. Im not quite sure what happened but it seems i now have 2 accounts, one of them from my old address 11yrs old which is still active and has £65 on it so i found out tonight! i called tesco up to enquire about £180 worth of vouchers i had go missing from my online account before they expired and they told me that they never existed!! until i managed to find one of the voucher codes from the old batch to prove that i did in fact have some old vouchers, they then told me of my 2nd account and said that their was nothing i could do to reclaim my lost vouchers, it seems ive been collecting vouchers for years ans they have all been expiring, i think the prob happened in 2008 while requesting a new family card, somehow a second account was setup but why didn't tesco automatically send onto me the vouchers when they new i moved house as i never changed email address. I fear i have lost £1000+??? who knows, i spent £100 a fornight, thats for the last 15yrs.... they send me maybe £5 every 8 weeks at most, im still not sure whats going on but they offered to send me a credit for the £65 on the old account if i cannot locate my old card, very annoyed right now! but Thanks Martin for alerting me to the tesco card thingy!! which prompted me to call them and ask questions otherwise id be none the wiser and would have lost my £65 too... i asked about complaining but they say it's my fault as i must have created a new account in 2008 and they said after 2yrs your vouchers are GONE....:( thinking of moving to morrisons as Tesco's bannanas as terrible anyway and they never had any potatoes in my home deliveries, ARRGGHH!

Did you contact Tesco Clubcard to change your Clubcard address details, either by 'phone or post?
Changing your 'online account address' has nothing to do with the Clubcard address. It only affects the address for online shopping.
Likewise, the email address is the online orders, not for Clubcard - though granted in the last few years you can get into MCA.

Did you not think it strange that you didn't get vouchers at the new address - even before this 'new family cards'?

Vouchers go out every three months, they last for two years, hence in Tesco's view they have little need to keep records older than that.
Have you logged on to MCA (wasn't available when you moved), if so did you see the card no - that appears on your delivery sheet - listed?

  • A couple of weeks back, when paying at the till, I forgot (and was not asked) to give my ClubCard. After paying I went straight to Customer Services, who added the ordinary points but said the Fuel Points won't show for a few days. I waited over a week, did another shop, but the Fuel Points still did not show. I contacted Tesco's Customer Services, who said that if I did not offer the ClubCard at the till I would not get the Fuel Points. They gave me 100 ordinary points by way of a 'gesture of goodwill'. This is, therefore, just to warn all to be vigilant and make sure you do offer your ClubCard when paying at the till.

Am I correct in assuming that the box standard return on Tesco points is 1% of the spend, or occasionally a multiple of that for selected products, some of which are overpriced by more than that anyway?

Perhaps we should think in these terms, rather than points. Reward systems love talking about points or air miles or some non-standard currency to deliberately add confusion, and to evade how little return you get.

The only benefit of Clubcard and the like is for the companies, to gain information and loyalty. They snoop on our buying habits and con the unwary that they are getting a good deal. The cost and time of administrating this complex process must be greater than the effective reduction on what customers buy, and of course that cost is passed on to customers.

Despite three calls to their helpline and five 'amalgamated' clubcard accounts, and more passwords and emails than I care to remember, I've never managed to successfully log on to their system to date, and for so little return for the work involved.

It's so much easier and cheaper to shop at Aldi and Lidl, it costs what you see. Unfortunately I need to use these rip-off retailers to obtain more specialised products and feel if I've accumulated points anyway I may as well try to use them.

If you shop in Tesco IMHO it's worth it having the card. Though as you say, having the card doesn't mean you go there just to get the 'points' when you may have got a better deal elsewhere.

Why is it a bad thing that stores with 'Loyalty cards' learn your buying habits, isn't that to your advantage to tailor promotions to you and better stocking in the store!

I'll try work this through for you, though I'm surprised it hasn't been sorted before.
When you say 'system' do you mean Clubcard - My Clubcard Account (MCA)? Or do you mean Grocery Home Shopping (GHS)? When you are on the Home page and log-in via email & password - that will get you into GHS. Going into to MCA if it has been registered before it will want the CC no verified.
Now sometimes, this can create a problem, in that the no it wants is not a CC you have a card for - it could be a 'virtual' one. Virtuals are ones the system will set up when someone registers for an online account but doesn't give a CC no.

Now it maybe that although mergers were done - MCA still wants the other number, or there is another CC no that hasn't been found yet, that is linked - once the 'offending' number is identified it can be de-linked, and you won't have any difficulty getting into the 'system'.
Have you changed address at all? Have you had any previous email addresses?

    HTHs.

  • I had been saving mine up, but had a big bundle that I had forgotten were due to expire end of May. So they did...:-(
I phoned the Clubcard line, was told to write in and explain, and they very generously put them back on my account - didn't have to, as it was entirely my error, but they di.
    So "thank you" tesco.....
