JC, my thoughts are with you. Is there any way that you can get the visit in sooner? My friend had been divorced from her husband for 18 years when he developed a brain tumour. She had two sons with him and she was shocked by all of the feelings that she had during that time. She went to visit him and made her peace with him as you have done in your conversation. Your ex is obviously walking through his life if he has memories of the dog, how nice that is.
Whatever happens I wish you all strength, peace and love. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
JC, very sorry and thinking of you all.

I hope you have a peaceful day JC - woke up a couple of times through the night thinking of you. (not in a bad way as i was very windy and noisy here)
Been texted to let us know that DS1 is off school on Wednesday - and one of the "School-gate" Dads has expressed an interest in joining our afternoon "car-pool" - well I figure every run I am not doing is saving a quid or two, so Yay!!!!
So today I am in noggin hell - screwing in all the supporting pieces on my stud-work ready for plaster boarding. I have however shortened the curtains, painted the rail and primed all the doors yesterday so I feel like I am really getting somewhere.
Off to feed the boys and throw some lunch in a flask for DS1 (how do I love his food flask let me count the ways LOL)

That's great news jc2703, thanks for the update.
Just catching my breath before leaving for work - up at 5.30 to get on with the house tidying. I just have to hoover around and plump the cushions when I come in from work, one-pot meal is ready (to minimise washing up) so should be all clear for the viewers this evening - fingers crossed. If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

My feeling is that we'll get locked out (or in, or something). Dangerously close to 5,000.
