JC - So sorry to hear that, sending strength to all parties HShugs17.gif
You can get a free 30 day trial on here - its one of the better ones but still more limited than what you can do free-hand. All my Mind Maps are done freehand and then scanned in for distribution and printing, but give it a go.

    Hope this helps

Sorry but can't see your linky

I would encourage anyone to do mind mapping by hand. The whole point is that it's a creative process, which I believe means actual pen and actual paper and feeling the process physically take shape. IMO doing it on computer is going to generate a barrier between your mind and the creative process (I know that sounds like pompous twaddle!) You'll remember it better and engage with it more deeply if you've done the drawing and the colouring yourself.

I am doing mind maps from my study text books to hopefully capture all the important theories and models. So I thought that if I print out the structure then I can be more creative when adding the graphs etc Also I have only one week to get it all done to leave me one week for question practice so all aid to speed it up is needed.

  • jc2703 - thinking of all involved ((()))

purple highlighter pens!!!!! (I didn't know you could get those. I love purple so does dd - scuttles of to look at stationary website:o)

I have plans to re cover my computer chair, found quite a good tutorial, so I will get some material at some point this week, only it isn't shabby chic it is just shabby.

I finally went through the wardrobe for things to ebay, have quite a little stash, and a bag of things for the charitys shop that are in perfectly good condition but not worth ebaying

groatie queen - I know exactly what you mean about preferring to celebrate/meet up with friends rather than exchange presents, you can't replace time spent with people.
My finances are work in progress.
    Normal veiwing will resume shortly
  • JC - thoughts to you and yours and everyone involved. My ex hubby had an awful accident a couple of years ago which meant everyone had to pull together to help him and his new partner for some time, and as you say, even though you have moved on, it doesn't stop you feeling concern and caring and wanting to do what you can to help.

Did someone mention office !!!!!!? I am never happier unless I am looking at a stationery catalogue:) I have always had a thing for nice paper and pens - can I admit to having a set of wax crayons that I have never used but bought with the intention of using them for mindmaps.

I mindmap pretty much everything after being taught by someone who MG is likely to know (someone with a very apt surname).

I treated myself to lunch out on Saturday - £4.95 for homemade shepherds pie, chips, peas and a mug of tea. I wanted to give someone some support on her first day at a lovely caff in Rubery. I didnt have dinner at night but instead had a sandwich. I had gone to Rubery to get a prescription filled, visit the greengrocers for some fab veg (£2.10) and the butcher for a 2lb bag of bacon bits (£1.50). I took some stuff to the charity shop as well and dare to admit that I bought 2 books from the 50p shelf...my Christmas/New Year project is to teach myself Finnish (must try and find the cassettes/dvds that go with the book so that I can hear Finnish being spoken so that I can get the accent right).

Told parents where I live too - immediately mum got antsy because it seems that the flats where I live have a bad reputation. Thankfully the flat is not yet in a fit state to receive visitors so I have said that I will invite her round when I am sorted out. So far gotten rid of 3 sacks of rubbish with another 4 sacks on the go, 2 bags of stuff have gone to the charity shop with another bag being prepared.

This week I need to try and list some stuff on the free auction site CashCowUK - like ebay but with no listing fees or commission fees and you can receive payments with paypal. I won't be listing stuff on Ebay again because I do not like their fees.

I'm slowly making progress on my curtain poles today... Two are sanded, washed and drying before painting, and one more has been taken down and washed prior to sanding. After that I need to wait until I have some help, as the new poles need cutting to the right length.

Tried to do an approved food order, but the systems seems not to be processing cards correctly. CBA to do anything about it, so may try again later.

Better get some logs in, then maybe lag the pipes in the spare room wile the floorboards are up.

Logs in, more logs chopped and stacked, coal bucket filled, pipes lagged... Although I didn't have enough lagging, so if I feel up to going into town tomorrow I'll pick up another pack.

Spare room, landing and bathroom hoovered, so now I need to rest :o

You're not alone! It's such a big commitment to write on the first page. All that promise and pressure..

JC2703, I don't know how far back you have been reading these threads hon - but do you remember my friends from London, the Priest and the Rabbi?

Well they both support one of the local hospices and what they do is imagine the person held in a bubble of light and love. They say that people often hang on to have one last conversation, and after that happens, "the ties that bind" are dissolved and they are free to move onwards.

They have both told me of cases that sometimes this "conversation" hasn't happened in person but is still somehow "heard" by the person (I'm not explaining this very well) - but a conversation between Priest and estranged child where he was told to "send my love" - shortly afterwards the father passed quietly and calmly.

So if it were my ex, I'd take a moment to send him a message along the lines of "I'm sorry we didn't get to be forever partners but I am grateful you loved me enough to create our boys, I am grateful that you got to share your love with another family, I am grateful for what time we did have and now that the time has passed I want to you have the ending you choose, when you choose."

I used to feel guilty that I no longer "loved" my ex - but the Rabbi only pointed out that he was an ex because we had come together for a season to learn a lesson, or to create our child - and now that the lesson was done we could both move on to learn other lessons with other people.

And I just thought he was being a prat :o

So no guilt about "not feeling" - it just means that there is no unfinished business to deal with.

But hugs to all of the kids concerned.

Actually I've got loads of research that proves exactly that - the difference in Uni students using software v hand written is very significant. (like several grades of difference)

But then as a World Champion of hand-drawn MMaps I would say that wouldn't I?:D
