Popping in to say hi - waiting for Governors meeting to start at 7pm - woohooo just the way a girl wants to spend her Thursday nights - but then have just done the money link thingy and am very grateful to have the well paid job I do have, especially as I enjoy a lot of it (even the paperwork saddo that I am!)
Have sent the link to dh so he can see how we fit into the equation then he might just see how much we could have around if he could stop chucking a lot of it away!Mortgage £128,626 going down slowly0 -

Lol :rotfl:Memory_Girl wrote: »So I am off to make my two young men (who are officially "children in poverty") their dinner in preparation for our "DAY OF PUDSEY" tomorrow. Its a INSET day here tomorrow - so Gran has treated them to some CIN stuff and we will have a day long treasure hunt, make cupcakes with yellow and dots icing an watch TV with a homemade pizza.
................ and the boys can see what children in "real" poverty have to put up with ( as opposed to us who are just skint and shall be back earning soon IYSWIM)
My dd is also "officially" a child who is being brought up in poverty. Hmmnn that'll be the young lady who is off to London for 5 days next week with the school and who will be getting an IPad for Xmas courtesy of Mum & Dad.
However.... I will say that it is very hard and funding these social expectations for her without going into debt has stretched our ingenuity beyond the point of comfort. So.... channelling my inner diva (I don't do this often enough)... kudos to all us resourceful matrixettes and frugalistas - we are all a-ma-zing (said a la Craig Revel-Horwood :rotfl:)0 -
just popping on to say, parana pine may be tricky to get hold of but when we were replacing the treads on our (similarly illegal compared to modern building regs) stairs, we were advised that bull nosed window board would do the trick so we bought lots. It is about an inch thick, very dense and my ex hubs' circular saw had a job cutting through it
it would be very good for shelves I think! Good luck!
my current stairs also laugh in the face of recent building regs.... asked my local council about replacing them as it would be pretty much impossible to get them up to spec. The planning chap said anything that was better than current would be fine. The lovely retired couple that had the house before me installed polished open stairs - socks are a no no in my house for going up stairs and they are referred to as the Stairs of Death! But I love my old house. would love to learn more about the history of it
I'm thrilled to hear about the kits for kids, sounds like there will be many happy faces this christmas
MG the CIN spotty cakes sound grand! Hope the boys enjoy0 -
Morning all. Home for a few days and catching up. Will hopefully get house internet sorted today along with my landline.
MG I'll buy the magazine today.
Great news on here as always x'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
I went on a magazine hunt yesterday. In my innocence I was surprised to discover that Woman's Own isn't stocked in the Students Union nor in the newsagents across the road. Not top reading for students it seems!:D
Still I got it and showed it to DD3 who agrees it is not a good picture of you and makes you look older. There were some good ideas for anyone without a clue but like all magazine articles it was far too general.
However a very welcome £200 I'm sure.0 -

Yeah a few people have commented on the picture - including on of the mentors who asked if they had airbrushed wrinkles "in" :rotfl:
So my mission - should I choose to accept itWould seem to be to turn the blog into the go-to place for living creatively and fabulously on a teeny budget - and make sure this first £200 can make me many more.
