Not really in a position to remortgage - in fact I probably wouldn't even get a mortgage right now.
I'm not going to panic - lets see what he says on Friday. Besides, the mortgage is going to be gone in three years anyways
Inspiration has struck - I'm going to make DS2 an easel for Chrimbo as his big present:D. That, some paints and a big roll of paper and he will be as happy as Larry. Should be about a fiver for the timber too - so double Yay!!!
In the meantime, I am two inches too short to give the last wall in the bedroom a right good dunt to make it fit square ............... so frustrating:eek::eek:
To soothe myself I shall go and screw the bathroom door set together and lean it against the wall in expectation of borrowing someone taller tomorrow to do the "brute force and ignorance thing"

Come on MG - surely the nice men next door will have some offcutsA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Surely you've got a 2 inch pair of platforms hanging around the place MG??:rotfl: :rotfl:
Pah to stupid bankI don't really understand offset accounts (and don't need to so please don't feel the need to explain
) but is there a way to do it through an ordinary bank account? (or have I got the wrong end of the stick?? Quite likely
)
Was trying to explain your mortgage challenge to Mr Daffs earlier (having just sneaked a peak at you in the magazine in Sainsbury's :rotfl:) Not sure he was convinced about being able to pay off that much in that short a time - but I reckon you can prove him wrong
OO! How utterly fabulous that you've finally managed to get the kits to the orphanage! :T :T :T How shocking that it's taken so blithering long, and all that pilfering too - pah! How lovely that it'll all be there for Christmas0 -
MG - can't you just stand on something secure while you apply the brute force?
I assume most of you lot live in my village, as there is not a single copy of the mag to be had in either shopthis means I will need to go shopping.... So I'm going to gather up my dry cleaning and drop it off, and then I have to go and get a pregnancy test too... I randomly decided to do one today and it was inconclusive (as a result I was lectured by the GP who was dealing with my eye infection - yes, I have one, so I'm glad I ignored the pharmacist - on the dangers of drinking so much water). And I have to know by wednesday to give me time to cancel my hospital visit. So keep your fingers crossed for me.... The chances are very slim (we're not supposed to be trying until after the hospital stuff is sorted), after all, that's why I'm having treatment, but there was a very, very faint blue line there...

I'm already on a hop - up ................. so high heels would be taking my life in my hands:D S'pose I could build me some stilts though :rotfl:
The easel would uses 2" x 1" - which is not very common coming out of old buildings ................. but if I spot them offloading new timber I shall be around there with a tray of hobnobs like a shot!!
Offset mortgage is basically a mortgage as a massive overdraft - you get charged interest on the outstanding balance every month. So every month the overdraft is less I get charged less. Mind you it really does make you focus on the fact that it is debt
MG

Game of two halves today - dh poorly sick with infected scratch from a dog so now on mega-antibiotics and had tetanus and feeling carp, dd on tea/play date with new best friend (another Doctor Who and Merlin geek) so took ds for a sneaky happy meal then did a huge shop (£65) including lots of fruit and veg to try to maintain the healthy eating. Dd and I are going to do a meal plan to see how far we can get with the supplies we have - although we will need more cheese and a bit of cooked meat for lunches, but am really interested to see how far we can eek out what we have. Will be looking at all the frugal recipes and some of MGs lovely soup ideas.
House is warm and cosy and full of food and bread is baking in breadmaker and Children in Need is on tv soon (and am sure Mr Gary Barlow will be on some time - if not have recorded last night's show;)) Life is indeed very good.Mortgage £128,626 going down slowly0 -
Got the mag - agree with the others MG that they didn't do it justice, but as you say, that means you still have the story to tell yourself
Got the tests... £3.47 for two... So why security tagged? And condoms in security boxes (this was in Mr T... Boots over the road obviously doesn't mind people shoplifting them...). I definitely need to leave the tests till the morning... I should probably leave them a few more days and try not to think about it.
SFA achieved this week apart from a couple of bags of books evicted, so I really need to get my act together tomorrow and start getting some stuff off my list.0 -
Blimey Greenbee - think I probably would have got two packets and done some now and in the morning
fingers crossed it works out well for you (and well done for ignoring the pharmacist!) xx

No point in me doing them now cheery... I drink too much water apparently. Plus I'm terrified it was an aberration and it'll be negative, so it's only the hospital appointment that is giving me a deadline. And obviously I need to finish the wine first in case it's positive0

Another carload of de-cluttering to the CS today, and the items CS wouldn't take, I've listed on Freegle :j. Still more to be done... but making progress. I plan to have everything down to the absolute minimum ready to be lifted out and transported by the removal men. The house sale is on its way.....
Crumbs MG, that's a stiff increase in your offset account fees. I still think you might be successful in getting the monthly fee reimbursed for the time they had frozen your account. It's hardly equitable to charge you for a service they are denying you the use of. Might be worth checking elsewhere on MSE?
Weather widget on my laptop tells me it's 13C outside :T. It's great to keep the heating off at this time of year without a feeling of penance. In the last 3 months I've cut back on evening baths, from nightly to 2 or 3 a week, and I'm looking forward to analysing the impact on my gas bill. Logic tells me that I should save more than the 18% imposed price hike. That will be so satisfying, and the mild spell is a good energy-saving buffer against any stiff weather to come.
Agreed about the 'vanilla' mag article. I think they were so intent on writing the elementary money saving basics into the article, that they edited out your 'voice' completely. And kept it very bland.
Greenbee, exciting times. Be gentle with yourself whatever the test shows. If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.
