Greenbee - do you have a 'take-out' nearby that delivers? or pasta and something you can make sauce from?

I think a walk is enough and you are recovering from mother and the bathroom fitters (I know mothers are lovely, but not good when they mother in your own house)

I have potato wedges in the oven... (and several boxes of chocolate in the top drawer :) )

[ I have also had a can of finest german supermarche cidre from the chrimbo 2010 stash, so I may make no sense at all!!!]

Thanks NL ... I have lots of food but CBA. Toast, beans and scrambled egg. Nothing green in sight. Hopefully I'll get my act together tomorrow.

Might have a glass of wine too :)

Tenmah, Bitzy and EE : I would like to echo Dustykitten in saluting you and I only wish I could do something to ease your pain. I just don't know how I would cope in your situations.

Thrifty _ My DS1 and his wife (who is a very dear DIL) are facing this problem. Their youngest son is way out on the Aspergers Spectrum. He is 14 now and shining in secondary school - at least in class! He told them when he was about 12 that he would stay in the house forever - but he would have a proper front door on his room with a bell, a lock, and a letter box but .... "You can still do my washing and cook my meals if you like." I think the reality of that statement is just coming home to roost.

On the other hand, how many young people were never given a chance in years gone by but were either beaten into a cowering wreck or committed to an asylum - worse still, were thrown onto the street as troublemakers.

With the knowledge I have now, I can identify a few kids from my childhood who would be diagnosed on the spectrum today. One, I am sure was a high achieving autistic in my form at secondary school committed suicide in her first year at university.

I wish I could give you the hugs you all deserve.
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

DS2's room completely done now and the landing. The rest of the house is a complete tip but I'm looking at it as you have to crack some eggs to make an omelette (actually I hate omelettes, they make me gag).

Going to start the mount of ironing I have created today. The mount of washing still waiting in the hallway is some creation and I have two more bedrooms to do tomorrow. As my dear friend Toots would say 'head down and batter on'.

DS3 is complaining of earache - wonder if he has picked something up from the swimming pool whilst we were away - or worse from swimming in the open water. Hoping he is not awake in the night.

Echo what others have said about the posts from Tenmah, Bitzy and EE, I have spent the day feeling very humbled and blessed to have everything I have. Was also touched by a letter from a child we sponsor in Thailand who was asking whether we harvest mushrooms from behind the school I work in to make money to buy food for our family like he does. Makes my grumbles about stolen roof lead and the like seem a bit pathetic tbh.

Have gutted dd's room today, have found a wealth of books, diaries, pens, cuddlies, hair bobbles and dust. She is definitely no princess as when I lifted up her matress there were about 20 paperback books and pens and notepads under it from all her nocturnal reading and notetaking sessions - she is only 9 and we have to keep an eye on her or she would read all night!

House cleaned from top to bottom (bar a small bit of tidying in the laundry room). I also spent far too much money at the Chinese supermarket (that's turning into a bad habit - had better stop that.)

Tomorrow: laundry room, clean musical instrument, shopping for thank you card and shepard's pie ingredients and flowers and sympathy and thank you cards, buy petrol make pie from shepards, walk dog, music, sort out room and paperwork (that's a week's worth on its own!).

Pierce Brosnan is currently on TV in Goldeneye *swoon*. If MG tells me she has met him in real life I will be forced to poke her eyes out with a blunt stick out of pure jealousy. ;)

Tenmah, Bitsy and EE: words fail me. There but for the grace of God go any of us. Well done for coping as well as you do - I wonder if I could. x
