nipped into Tatco - again straight to the whoopsie shelf for 2 loaves of Hovis Granary reduced to £1 each from £1.34 (now in freezer)
Horace, MG mentioned bread-o-nomics, yesterday. Great news about getting the Granary but if you have a breadmaker it will cost you slightly over a third of what you paid for reduced bread and will have only ingredients it really needs (like flour, water, yeast, very small amouts of salt and sugar and olive oil).
Just an idea!

Old Singer: It is possible to find replacement bits for old machines, might it be worth looking for shuttles etc now, rather than wait till you get stuck? And find a sewing machine engineer, they're worth their weight in gold!
Hi, I have been looking, but not much luck so far, but thanks for the idea about an engineer
Alterations: This is a difficult one as you're in transition! Have you invested in new undergarments as that will make a significant difference to your outline before looking at anything else? As far as alterations are concerned, so much depends on the fabric and the details as well as the fit. For example, if a top was tight around the underarm and shoulder seam then that would affect how the collar fits as well as the bust and the sleeve. It might not be as simple as take it in at the side seams, you might need to have a look at the sleeve seam as well. I will check my books at home to see if there's any book that will help!
I think you're in for a huge session of trying garments on and concentrating on a small capsule wardrobe of what you want to wear now!
It's mainly trousers at the moment, I've lost hardly anything from the top. For now, as none of them have pockets, I've managed by putting belt loops on, but they are looking rather baggy round the @r$e!!
Cheap Patterns: Ah, rare and fabulous objects indeed! So much depends on your style. I have noticed offers on certain brands or loyalty cards at independent retailers but your mileage may vary depending on where you live.
ETA: I didn't check the pattern prices in Abakhan on Stafford Street on Saturday on my day out in Liverpool, I was too busy in the fabric by the kilo section:rotfl:
Fabric by the kilo is a really good invention, I've had some bargains from there!

This is a good way of removing fabric from the waist where there's a tailored waistband: you could lose some excess from the side seams and darts as well while the waistband's off. That way, you don't have to redo a zip front. I'd tend to try on, pin and tack before cutting though, just to check that the side seams are still straight.:D

Hi
I haven't posted here for a while, just been lurking...just wanted to share something with y'all though as I know you'd 'get it'!
I only own two pairs of jeansand one of those isn't really 'me', so I tend to wear the other pair all the time! Anyway, as you'd expect my favourite pair have now split and are beyond repair
.
So, I've been watching ebay to try to replace them, but hadn't found anything as yet, and then, my sister turns up with two bags of clothes for me. One bag, you've guessed it, full of jeans!! There are 10 pairs :T, only trouble is, only 1 pair fit me at the moment, the other 9 are too small. If ever there was a message from the universe...and to lose some weight too :rotfl:

That's the same organisation I was on about, just in a different cityThe ones here are very well behaved, and they do indeed have ladders. Only mentioned it because you said your mum seemed sad to have her fruit going to waste - and this is the very thing this organisation was set up to prevent!
After lots of ringing round the hospital I've finally got a date for my thyroid removal operation - 30th November. Feels a lot more real now I have a date! And it also appears I have to have 4 weeks off work, not the previously advised 2... Fine by me - takes me pretty much to Christmas so I may well be off for the whole ofDecemberBring on the knitting I say!

They are done - check them out on the blog. Colours are not true but as we have said before I am on a crappy little Jazz camera.
I love the blue piping - makes it look tres chic, so when you look at them just bear in mind that the blue piping comes to you courtesy of Clootie and a spare box of dye from her;)
I am pooped - but they didn't beat me, although it was a close run thing yesterday :rotfl:
