Horace - that's incredibly kind of your parents. Could you cope with going back to live with them or might that be too much for you all in anything other than the short term?
Clootie... Feel free to have my glass or two of wine
Of course I'll keep you all updated. I just hope it won't cause any delays with the ongoing work here, as workmen appear to need to have an eye kept on them if they're going to do any work...0 -
Everybody is doing really well..I need to start sorting my stuff out and packing it away into crates, need to find out the cost of storage too and that way my stuff can go into storage. It was nice being at my parents today because the house is warm (central heating on all the time for dad). Not sure I could cope with being at my parents full time although mum would appreciate the help with my dad and the garden (a third of an acre is a bit much for a 72 year old). I also came away with the local free papers with letting agents details in because they say I can get a cheaper flat near them. They did consider buying me a small house for circa £100K but as I am not yet divorced they don't want hubby (ex but not yet divorced from) getting his mitts on half of everything. My parents told me that with their house and their savings they have around £500K and that would be a lot to lose and this is why they have held off buying me a small house.
Only one item sold on fleabay today - my harlequin shot glasses bought at charity shop for £1.30 and sold for £2 plus P&P. I have a question, I have received a message from a potential buyer saying that he wanted an item but was unable to bid because he has 0% feedback. I was always told not to let items to go folks with 0% feedback because they could be trying to rip me off - now what do I do about it? I have a feeling that he wanted the digital photoframe which I was selling for £45 (still brand new in box never been used). I am not that experienced with fleabay so not sure what to do. Will need to relist all items that didnt sell again and maybe reduce prices for some down to £10 even thought what I am asking is a fair price.0 -
Horace, this is a great story; and because today is obviously my crying day (have one every five years or so) I am crying again. Moving back with your parents should be given serious consideration - it is a double wedge and not that simple. One main advantage is it will give you time to exhale and 'regroup' (apart from helping them a bit).
I am not sure what I would have done if it were me.

If you need to use up some of the lemonade, you could try these Aussie lemonade scones. My Auusie ex-SIL made them for me and they do work. (Recipe calls for a little bit of double cream but otherwise economical)

Aussies have some interesting recipes. In the days I could eat eggs, I used to make their Impossible Quiche (no faffing about making pastry):
http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/14039/impossible+quicheIf you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Wow Horace, your parents sound like they are really trying to support you and I must admit I did well up when I read your post. My parents are both dead and I do miss them - its hard being 'the older generation' all of a sudden - that cushion of support is gone for ever. Even if you decide not to stay with them it must be lovely to have the offer and know they care about you and are doing their best to support you0

Now I know I need to stay up late I'm really tired and want to go to sleep0

Pah!!! keep losing posts so will do this in bits.
Good luck to your SIL greenbee, hope she has an easy time of it through the night.
Brilliant news Horace - they might drive us nuts at times, but nothing beats parents for stepping in with practical help.
I think I agree with the conclusions you guys have come up. The reason I get so much done is because I don't have an OH. The kids are in bed by 8pm and the rest of the evening is my own - and those hours add up.
I also make all the decisions - meal plans, schedules, projects - there's no-one to argue / agree with.......................... means I have to run an electric blanket instead LOL
Remember my lovelies loads of you guys also hold down really responsible Full-time jobs - some of which would drive me postal LOL. I have got a few months left before DS2 goes to school and I am back at work full-time, so in the meantime the way I keep myself sane is to create these challenges for myself.... which is a bit sad if you think about it ..................
like today ..................... spent the morning sewing up the covers and it all went wrong So spent the afternoon unpicking miles of stitching,
Now I am parked in front of "River Cottage" stubbornly hand tacking all the seams to make them fit flat .............. I am so fed up with this monster project but have come so far with it that I am reluctant to stop.
Better Luck with the machine sewing tomorrow I hope.

I've just watched the last ever episode of Spooks.
All I can say is
I won't say any more for those who are interested and haven't yet seen it, but    :eek:0 -

You lot must have had early nights and be having lie-ins, that's all I'm saying!0 -
Not me sunflower... I was up till 1.30 with no news on the baby... Awake at 4 and got a call at 6.30 to say she'd arrived at 3am, had a feed and my brother was already home to get my nephew up and take him to nursery... Which is lucky as I'm shattered!
However, as I'm expecting the plasterer to manage to turn up today as it's a working day, not just one he told me he'd be working, I guess I should get up...0
