It is indeed - but the sky is clearing now. :T
We're in our caravan at Little Waldingfield. It's one of my favourite areas of England.
MG : We'd better get a move on - your money could save the Big Horse. They made a loss of 3.3 bn :eek: On second thoughts . . .
I read that about Lloyds- my bank is the even bigger horse - the huge working horsey that sounds like Plydesdale :rotfl::rotfl:
Still its nice to know we are in a better financial position that the banks - I may have some debt, but its a lot less than 3.3 bn
Work has gone off by email to the Mentors - what a challenge. Will hear from them in the morning (time zones) ................. but I have a feeling in my water what the "big" challenge is going to be

My editor won't let me use the word 'Evangelise' because it has religious connotations. So I'm looking for alternatives.... My favourite so far is 'tergiversate' (and it's in the iPad dictionary
)

greenbee how about 'proselytize' ?Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0 -
Funny that MG, from your description I had a vision of Doris Day........... except she wouldn't have had the cigarette holder would she.
Marru, how exciting. Who is your guru? I used to love watching Caeser Milan but didnt know enough about him to know if he was as good as he seemed in the half hour show which had been heavily edited. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Hmph. Some things I've sold on ebay I left at home and asked mum to package up and send off. OH is worried about his precious 100% feedback being ruined coz two things are going to be sent out a day or two later than they were meant to. I'm pretty sure my mum has had other things on her mind in the past couple of days.... Now OH is taking it out on me even though I've told him to drop it and said how it's not my fault what's happened recently and I can't force mum to send things out any earlier.... Rant over. Sorry.Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.0

Thanks ladies - I enjoy hearing new takes on the use of words. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Evangelise does have religious roots, but is often used as business jargon now... I really wanted to get across that people need to go out and communicate with an enthusiasm that gets people to collaborate with them and to go out and tell everyone how great it all is in their turn...
And the problem with tergiversate is that it appears only to be an intransitive verb, and I need it to be transitive as this is about making other people change their minds rather than changing your own... But its a great word. Unfortunately the editor won't know what it means (and based on today's experience are unable to use a dictionary or the Internet) given that she doesn't realise you can't replace a verb with a noun and still make sense.
Today has been a day for learning a out my tolerance threshold for idiots. Still too low clearly0 -

Ooo I do like this posttransitory verbs - havent thought about them for years.
I did think about the word enthuse rather than evangelise but then thought it might not be appropriate for what you need. How about rhapsodise (erm is that transitive or intransitive? - gosh my brain is defintely not what it used to be)
I have never heard the word evangelise used as business jargon so far but then I work from home so I am lucky that I avoid the office speak most of the time which does drive me mad. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. I like enthuse
OH rather boringly came up with 'educate' which kind of misses out on the inspirational element.
I also wanted to suggest (but could possibly be accused of winding up the editor) assimilate, bewitch, brainwash, transform, transfigure, revolutionise... Just to make the point that the preferred option of 'advocate' wasn't quite what I was aiming for0
