    Morning all

MG glad your mog is back

DS3 off school unwell today, coughing and wheezing all night so I need to work around him. He's done some school work and is now watching a bit of tv so I'll get the hoover out and then he can do his spelling test at home.

Now where is my stash of vinegar I can start striping the reclaimed brass.

Been out in the tipping rain to return the library books.

All big kids now set to go swimming at 2pm when the inflatables are up. - Bargain £1.

Popped in to my favourite £1 rail and bought a Julian McDonald Body Con dress - seriously!!! Its a size 14 and fits like a glove - but I actually look pretty good in it. I think I have a distorted view of my body shape - as this is not something I would normally have tried on. Its very tailored and structured so will need to get Souks input on how to wear it - black cardi or something. Will pop a photo up on the blog for her to see.

Off to have a cup of tea as I am in shock that I bought something so body con.

    Morning all

Feeling a tad despondent today, all I have done this morning is ring people up thanking them for their auction donation but regretfully the auction has been cancelled, the worst call was ringing the charity whom we were raising money for:(

In other news the lamb shank cooked wonderfully in Pot yesterday - the meat just fell off the bone. Realised that I hadnt got any tinned spuds at all so found a packet of Smash, it smells vile so instead I served up lamb shank with its own onion gravy and a bread roll. Looked at the packet of Smash and the use by date was Oct 2007:eek: (pity I no longer have the receipt because I bought the packet last year). As I made too much cooking liquor yesterday, I have boxed the remainder up and bunged it in the freezer for use when I next decide on cooking lamb shank (I have another one in the freezer) - or if I decide to make a soup.

Weather is damp and grizzly today and I have just been looking out of the window to find that some numpty has parked their van in such a way that I cannot get my car out - hope it is has gone by the time I need to go to the docs this afternoon.
  • Hi there Matrix.

Got the lurgy that is going around at the moment. Feel utterly icky (technical term there) but currently fighting on at work. Have meetings all week, so think I will be hauling myself into work each day. Bluergh.

Off to next meeting, and to feel slightly sorry for myself.

    Scores on the doors are:

Master Shoes - 24 peanut butter and choc-chip cookies
Mistress Shoes - 12 double chocolate muffins
DS2 - 6 mini banana and walnut loaves
    DS1 - 36 ginger nut biscuits

Thankfully most of this is going home with the mindees today otherwise I would have no hope of getting into the new frock - but it has kept them happy and occupied most of the morning.

We have also played hide and seek (always fun when its not your own house isn't it) and made three batches of playdough.

Off to take them to the pool for an hour

Sounds like a very productive morning MG, all those yummy cookies :)

I've got the lurgy starting up too, feeling very chesty and yuk. But I'm going to go and work from home in a moment as our work computer systems are playing up a lot and if the boss can go and work from home, then.......what's sauce for the goose and all that :)

Also, I've got the estate agent coming round later in the week to give me the bald facts about what I need to do to put the house on the market, i.e. how little repainting and tidying can I get away with?, so I need to build on the good work I've started by doing yet more decluttering, tidying and putting away. I took a boot-load of carp to the tip at lunchtime and have my to-do list to hand :)

But I do also need to help DD with her homework and we need to make cakes/cookies for her packed lunches tonight, so it won't be all work and no play.....
  • Afternoon all,

Sorry have been MIA for a while, belated birthday wishes to Souk and Firewalker! Well done MG on the dept payments and the sofa progress!

Just read that news story about Mr Singh the 100-year-old marathon runner; at the end of the story it quotes him saying that his secret to a long and healthy life "is to be stress-free. Be grateful for everything you have, stay away from people who are negative, stay smiling and keep running." Made me think of you guys of course.

..................... except for the marathon running bit of course? :rotfl::rotfl:

Boy its cold this afternoon - time to step up the winter prep as they are predicting snow in Scotland later - Brrrrr!!!!

So am off into the attic to find a decent pair of curtains to cut the draft from the front door.

Sausage dogs a gogo here at MFi3 manor - I WILL NOT succumb and put on the heating.

  • Welcome back Troglodyte - such simple, yet powerful advice - stay away from negative people, be grateful and keep smiling. I love it when I'm in that zone, just need to expand it further now (also need to encompass the running bit, do you think walking would do instead???)

Lots of housy bits accomplished here today along with my first lesson in Photoshop, it'll be interesting to see how much I have retained.

Heating is on here I'm afraid, it has got to that point where the washing just will not dry on the airers, so have had to give in. Cue 4 months of me jumping up and down like a yoyo switching the heating on and off :rotfl:. Still cheaper than the tumble dryer tho' - jeesh the things we do :rotfl:.
