Sorry to hear that TDQ... Maybe you can use it as an opportunity to try some new recipes to make the day more interesting.
Laundry all pretty much done ... Mattress topper in the dryer, sheepskin boots next to the dehumidifier to keeo it busy for the next few daysso I need to finish emptying the dishwasher, do the washing up and then throw on some scruffy clothes and get my packing done.... The utility room needs to be cleared by the time my taxi arrives at 12.30 and I'd like to have managed to fit in a shower too
Catch you all later.... Have a lovely Sunday!0 -
Morning Peeps!!! except for Souk - who if she was out with the gays last night should surface in a few hours
Happy Birthday to you hon - many more and we wish you nothing but good things.
DS1 LOVED he schools production of "Les Mis" - the kds did very well, not an easy score for young voices. Val Jean was about 18 - nice tenor but bit of a pretty boy IYSWIM - not sure I "Bought" him as an old man but what was I thinking anyways :rotfl:
In Souks honour I wore a green wrap top - green and white skirt and green patent HEELS to the theatre:eek: Very glam and DS1 proudly held my arm the whole time we were walking.
He is in his room listening to me CD now that he knows the story.
The sun is shining this morning - and lunch and dinner is already prepped so I am about to head up to MFi3 mission control and do some more sewing on the sofa - my target is to make a shabby chic Union Flag cushion cover today.
Mum produced 2.5 metres of navy blue heavy jersey for me yesterday (found in a local charity shop) - its a bit, well it smells a bit of cat, so it has been washed in some biological and is out on the whirly drying. I am sorely tempted to make myself a decent quality "infinity dress"
Donna Karan makes one for just £1030 :eek:

Still if I can upholster 2 sofas for less than £10 I should be able to make a £1030 frock from £1.99 of fabric - right??:rotfl::rotfl:
Righto!!!! 15 minute pick-up and then jump into my crafting day - then at 3pm I have a call with a mentor about joint ventures so will keep you all posted.

Welcome to Betsie2010
Happy Birthday Souk
Arrrgghhh to unplanned defrosted freezers TDQ
Enjoy your day up in the dales Tricia - sounds absolutely glorious
Yesterday was a day of two halves, the first half being overwhelming panic that we don't have enough money, the second composed of MrsMoo's motto "I have more than enough money for my needs." There was no outright winner but at least the overwhelming panic didn't win outright.
Today is a new day and time to move forward again, baby steps all the way.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone, Thriftyxxx
Eta: MG glad you had a good day out at Les Mis with ds1, looking forward to seeing the cushions.0 -
Morning all, just realised we're missing the instructions for our oven so there goes my day of revision as I have to be here to turn it on because we don't know how to work the timer! At least we have temporary internet back.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Morning all..Happy Birthday Souk:beer: - I don't think Souk will be surfacing until late this afternoon especially as she has been out with the gay chaps as she won't have gotten home until about 6am:eek:
I was missing in action yesterday as I was doing stuff and photographing stuff for ebay until the batteries died on my camera. I used Pot again yesterday for some fridge forage soup - I was amazed at the most flavoursome soup made from 2 old tomatoes, 2 carrots, a chopped onion, a squidge of tomato puree, a beef stock cube, some italian herb seasoning and a few good turns of pepper plus a handful of pearl barley. It didnt look much at first and then I remembered my Braun Electric Hand Mixer - it has a handy attachment for chopping up soup, this is the first time I have ever used this gadget despite having it for at least 10 years:o One bowl of yummy soup with buttered roll for dinner last night and 3 bowls of yummy soup now in the freezer.
Today, is ebay listing day and I need to wash the crockpot again as I am planning to have lamb shank for dinner tonight.0 -
Can you not google for an instruction leaflet for your oven? - I found one for mine on there.
Just sewed the front of my cushion but boys are lobbying for lunch so taking a break before going back to do the piping and zip.
Time to choose another talking book to spend the afternoon with.

Yay scooby doo movie on tv so I get an hour to run round and tidy/clean while kids watch it. Then dd has promised to help do listy of freezer/fridge stuff, plan meals and we will go and do a quick shop before scooter time in the park. Aim to spend as little as possible as we seem to have some money left at the the end of the month and I want to keep it for half term excitements.Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Happy birthday to you, Souk, I hope you're having a good time.
Having a flatpack morning here. In the middle of building an IKEA chest of drawers - couldn't mend the broken one after all, no low cost alternative locally (tried freegle, gumtree, auctions). So bought a replacement one yesterday which is sturdier and has more robust runners for the drawers. Carcase is assembled, just the drawers to go. Then will do a trip to the tip with the cardboard packing and the broken item. Then, FINALLY I can sort out all the clothes currently piled on the bed, into the new chest of drawers! What a palaver!! I think when I'm out I'll reward myself with one of my free garden centre cafe cuppas. And get my breath back!
Years ago I used to put together flatpacks with gusto and took them in my stride. This morning I felt very reluctant and almost daunted to get cracking, but I'm pleased to see it taking shape! I think the issue is not having the same degree of physical strength as in the past. But using leverage to do the moving about has been manageable. Breaking tasks down to small chunks tends to relieve the overwhelm - and IKEA's instructions are pretty good.
Horace, thanks for mentioning food, reminded me to get something out to defrost for this evening! If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Well done Groatie, you are a complete inspiration, do you know that. Have a thoroughly dodgy hug :grouphug:.
This afternoon we are shifting furniture in dds room - the trick will be keeping dd and dh separate during operations, wish me luck. Tea is all prepped - hm beef pie, carrots and mash.
Okay, into battle I go.0 -
Thanks Thrifty.. I must confess it's the fear of viewers coming to see the house which has motivated this particular burst of activity! Somehow I don't think they would be impressed by the heap of clothes on the bed! Anyway, after today I hope they come in droves!
Seems to be the day for furniture shifting - I hope your movings around go well too!If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.
