Souk as someone else who is signing on the rock and roll, you have my sympathies..look at this this way we have both paid our taxes and are therefore entitled. This is only the second time in my life that I have had to sign on in 31 years of working the first time was between Aug 2007 and April 2009 (jeepers, have I really been working for that long??) I was unemployed for a long while as you can see but in that time I got the dole office to pay for some training via the New Deal scheme and I managed to get them to part with £520 to pay for my wedding planning course when their normal limit from the advisory discretionary fund is £100:D I make them work for me:rotfl: Must admit that I will always dress smart and put on a bit of lippy when I go to sign on otherwise I will end up in scruffs like everyone else in there and it gives me a boost.0

Hi all,
Thrifty: well done.
Crickett: :j :jWOO HOO!:j :j Go on - I'm delighted for you! :T
Other than that, I worked 09.00-19.15 today, with no lunch break. Had a deadline. Now it's doable. Had a huge paper declutter last night as well, but took me until the not-so-wee small hours.
Need to give the computer to mummy SunFlower, so will be back sometime soon. Good day for the Matrix, ladies - let's keep it up! :T0 -
A bit late in the day [been a long one] but very well done Crickett thats great - so glad you stuck with it. Hope you enjoyed the singing this eve
Well done to you too Thrifty - hope your plans go well
Good on you Souk - thats what the broo is there for0 -
Thanks girls, not feeling brilliant about it all to be honest so going to decamp to the folks for a few days. Signing on is fine, it's the fact that I'm utterly at someone elses beck and call that's really hard for me. I have done all I can there but the story is still the same. I may hear tomorrow or in weeks time, I just dont know so can't plan anything really. I'm in total limbo and it's horrible.'The road to a friends house is never long'0

Sounds like you need to get over the other side souk and start thinking about your website a a bit of variety in with the job hunting...0

Thanks GB but I'm going to keep focussing on the day job that will bring in the cash hon. That would always have been a side thing so cant think about 'extras' til my job is sorted. I have to believe that that will be soon x'The road to a friends house is never long'0

Hugs Souk - something wonderful will be along soon, I just know it.
WTG thrifty, that is fantastic. And we are just looking at our figures in a similiar way so its good to know that it can be done.
As you can see from the time of this post I couldn't get back to sleep having woken at a really daft time so having a mooch round here before getting set for the day.
My sons GF has an interview today so it would be great if you could get those positive vibes going once more. I know that they work, not always in the way that we expect though.
Have a good day everyone.0 -

I can now share today's number crunching exercises....
I don't know how we've done it but.... our disposable family income is now the same as when I was working :j. This has been achieved through cutting out unnecessary spending and of course, not having the expense of working - travel, clothes, etc. The daft thing is, this has resulted in an improvement in our living standards - we eat healthier homemade food, walk more, spend more time together as a family, live at a less frantic pace, the house is cleaner and of course is better decorated.
The other bit of good news is that total negative wealth (including mortgage) in Thrifty Towers has today broken the 20K barrier - £19,700 :T.
So onwards and upwards it is . Next target to earn more than £53.10 a week so that I no longer need to claim Carer's Allowance - plans are afoot and inhand :rotfl:.
Being around here is contagious I tell you, contagious.
Well done! I've often wondered what the bottom line would be to giving up work as you have. I know we found quite a lot of savings when we retired - including on clothes. Alan is quite proud that he has only worn a tie three times in three years.
It's great to think in terms of 'wealth' rather than money. It's such a liberating thought. But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
Good morning.
DS2 off againstomache bug this time
I'm feeling rough too.
Not much to do downstairs today as I had a good clean yesterday, just DW loaded (run out of tablets though so need to buy some) was hoping for another NSDWM loaded and TD on.
Need to start de cluttering dry clothes from hanging around the living room. Then I'm going to start upstairs.
Souk I'm sure there will be a job out there for you soon
I have had my letter from DWP saying I have to fill in a questionaire to see if I am still entitled to IB and attend a medical,Even though I hate being on it I still need the money

Good Morning Matrix. Had a lovely time last night at choir. In fact two friends there gave me hooch to celebrate - one was Damson Gin and the other was a small bottle of bubbles! *hic* I shall enjoy partaking of them slowly!!
I have come into work with a smile on my face and a spring in my step, as I said I would. Off to attack my work to do list and get some productive thinking done re my next professional and personal steps."A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440
