Yeah its the traditional "Tattie Holiday" - where they gave up trying to school the kids cos they would all have been in the fields "howking" (harvesting - well literally hauling up lol)
Off to finish watching Phil Glenister in his new series - not sure I am convinced yet.

Beautiful red sky out the window this morning - but it is most definitely Autumn - I'm thinking early mornings in the garden with a cuppa may be nearly over for the year.
DS1 has his "Smartie Party" today and DS2 a "Disney dress up" this afternoon so its all go go go for social activities today at MG Manor.
I'm thinking the sofa activities may have to get ramped up so that I can do the "preparation for Winter" stuff that I have got planned as it will soon be upon us - thinking duvets under sheets, cosy blankets, lining the curtains, sausage dog kind of stuff.
Now despite it being the first week of the month - and despite my non-planned for carpet purchase I am hoping I can scrabble £50 together as an extra payment on the Big Horse Debt today - keep your fingers crossed.

Morning all.
Chilly here so woolies at the ready as I don't want to put the heating on just yet as last years bills were so hefty.
Not a NSD today either as I am going for a cut and colour at the hairdressers. I keep saying I will start home colouring but feel quilty when they ask me if I want to book my next appointment.
No rain forecast though and it is very breezy so will try the washing on the line before I go.
Have a good one everyone.0 -
TDQ - enjoy this one then save your pennies and splash out on a whopping £1.60 for a box of hair colour from Wilko's, it's fabulous, covers all my greys and lasts nearly as long as a professional dye job, and at least as long as a more expensive box. I've been so lucky to find a box that's basically my natural (sans grey) colour and every time I slap the stuff on, I think of how I used to spend up to £150 a time getting my hair cut and coloured.....!
Nowadays, I'm having a £15 wet cut when I feel like an old English sheepdog and a £1.60 box of dye every 6 weeks. Glam eh?!?0 -
Yup, definitely chilly here in the Midlands too. I am wearing a coat to work every day, anyway!
Going to ask for this afternoon off... Got to clean and tidy the house because it is a tip. I have not felt very well this week, and so hubby has taken this as some kind of holiday himself. Anyway... the dustbunnies are beginning to talk to me, andI am sure one of the growled at Alfie cat, so it needs to be taken care of. And I do not want to spend the weekend doing housework!!
Not got a lot of work to do today because I managed to power through a lot of it yesterday.Much to my surprise!! I have my last counselling session that work is paying for this afternoon... but I have decided to find the money to keep paying for them. I have made some very powerful personal discoveries and I want to kick this depression thing in the teeth good and proper. At least, that is the plan!!

Wooohoooo!!!!!
Having shifted through the fridge I realise that I need very little for next week - with the boys on hols there is no packed lunches to make so it will be "Freezer surprise" for lunch instead.
So I have got a whole £60 to go over to the Debt and scrambling around for another Credit Union Payment too - all looking frugal and good. That makes an incredible £120 over to the debt this week - remind me to update my siggie.
Must run and take kids to school

Good morning Matrix guys and gals!
I had materials to collect from work yesterday (not normally a working day) for a charity event being hosted on our behalf this weekend, so I made the 38-mile round trip worthwhile by staying on and getting some work done. Did 2.5 hours and it's nice to know those particular frogs will not be waiting for me next week! It also felt good walking out of the building at 12.30 instead of 5.00pm!
It's parky here but the heating is off. I get dressed in front of a blow heater which is on for all of three minutes whilst my skin is exposed! Lots of layers being worn... I picked up a great pattern for a chunky knit waitcoat with cabling and dropped shoulders forming short sleeves but nearly fainted at the price of yarn in the wool shop, so will need to have a hunt on ebay.
Today is my regular Friday morning cuppa with dear friend, down in his village for a change. Then I'm going to get the house back to selling standard, inspired by my friend having sold her flat in Edinburgh.
ETA - just seen your post MG! Great news. So pleased all your efforts are paying off so handsomely. If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Morning all
It sounds mad but I feel alive today, I have dressed up a bit too with a skirt and a warm cardigan which has gone over a vest top. The cardigan must be at least 30 years old:eek: but it has kept well. It was most unusual when I bought it as it has leaves and flowers (the flowers are found) embroidered on it - it was a one size fits all which is handy because I no longer a stick insect. I need something nice to wear when I sign on later.
This morning I have rung the credit union and they have an office in Northfield that I can visit from Monday-Friday between 9am and 4.30pm. They were really nice when I rang up and the lady that I spoke to said that she was in the same position as me 4 years' ago and that credit union was a godsend. I am considering shifting all my banking to them to keep it away from FD (the robbing barstewards).
More jobs need to be applied for today too. I may just ask the jobcentre about one that I saw on their site last week (I have been trying to do some research on the company and have found nothing which has set alarm bells ringing).
Big pan of bolognese made last night - served 3 spoons with some rice which I microwaved.0 -
Awwww!!! Just came home to find someone had stuck a booklet of kids knitting patterns in my letterbox - think I feel another DS2 jersey coming on this weekend. Lovely Random Act of Kindness.
Council Tax Benefit has been approved (due to low income) so as long as the WFTC audit comes back OK we are good to go for the next stint.
Quick tidy up then off to the Credit Union and then "Smartie Party" then its heads down for the weekend and a cosy productive time I hope.
