I forgot I have runner beans and avocados (two baby ones). Funny how you lose your appetite when stuff needs eating!

Cold avocado and mint soup is yummy. Whizz up raw cucumber, avocado, garlic, fresh mint and lemon juice and when it's all blended and looking soupy (add a bit of water if necessary) eat straight away. Yummy.

Had a good jobs day today and the paperwork pile is looking less monstrous although some of it has been moved to the reading pile so it's not actually gone yet. We didn't manage to clear the shed today as there were other things on the list with a higher priority. I still feel as though I'm working hard just to keep still. I am hoping that one day soon everything will suddenly come together.

I have a plan for tomorrow which involves more paperwork and sitting out in the garden during the sunny spells promised by the weather man.

Ellidee thanks for the link to the preparing for winter thread. I have started reading my way through it and have come up with a couple of ideas. Sometimes the obvious is staring at us in the face yet we don't see it and need someone else to show us the way.

Started well today by going for a walk/run and have already fed munchkins and hung washing out - head is now buzzing from run but body is now slowing down! Is a lovely day and I have a day of schoolwork ahead of me and am wondering how much I can take into the garden to do:)

Clearly BA have decide to have the same hand baggage allowance for all routes and all classes, which make no sense at all, but I can't find any information that says different...

I thought hand baggage would be worked out on a safety for size and weight for the overhead lockers so expect it would be the same regardless.

Really tired this morning, feet ache and have a sore throat.

Had a good day with DS1 on uni visit yesterday though and he has found a course he really wants to do but the entry is very tough on several areas so I'm hoping it will really motivate him for this coming year.

DH and DS2 and a friend are going down the olympic canoe course in a raft today which should be fun.

Plan to just have a potter, I must do some ironing and some paperwork but another cuppa first I think.

Dora - did you find time to send the Disney cards? They haven't arrived but we have a new postman so have had other peoples post some days so I wanted to check, thanks

Off to do another round of packing and decluttering. We have three viewings of our property this week, so we are trying to clear as much stuff away as possible to give the illusion of space! My dad lives alone in a three bed house with a dining room so he said we can store our stuff there until we are ready to move it to the bungalow. HOWEVER I forgot his little quirks, so we are not allowed to put anything ON the two spare beds (which are never used) or ON the dining room table (which is never used) or IN front of any wardrobes, just in case he needs to get in them. He has five wardrobes and I know he does not have enough clothes to fill one, so for some reason he has spread them all out :rotfl:

I have to explain he is 90 years old, and keeps the house and garden himself, including doing his own washing, cooking, cleaning etc with no help from anyone so is totally allowed these caviats, but it makes it so stressful taking things round there in case I put them in the wrong place :rotfl:

Tenmah, good luck with that - I feel my 85 year old mum is headed that way sometimes, I have to think, at least she's active - you're obviously thinking the same. I do have one minor ambition for her, to declutter her kitchen enough so that she can have a dishwasher fitted without too much trauma.

Oceanspirit - what a fantastic recipe for the avocado! I am *completely* useless at choosing, and choosing when to use, avocadoes, so much so I gave up and bought some cold pressed avocado oil, no waste there, I might even try that recipe and replace the avocado with my oil :)

My theory was that as there are fewer seats per square inch in business class there would be more room in the lockers :D 23kg is going to hurt if it lands on you whatever class you are in...

Oceanspirit - thanks for the idea. I have some cucumber soup left that didn't fit in the freezer so will blend the avocados into that.

Had my 'Sunday day of rest' yesterday as I was feeling very tired, so today I'm in domestic mode. I've gathered in the last of my plums ahead of the forecast high winds, and roasted them with cinnamon and brown sugar. I'm letting them cool before freezing breakfast-sized portions.

:rotfl::rotfl:Such is my zeal to have another NSD, I needed ground cinnamon, so chopped up 2 cinnamon sticks then whizzed them in my super strong liquidiser. I did a fridge audit, and haven't got any onions, but found two lots of wizened spring onions, so I've taken off the papery outsides and the innards will do for today's leftover cauliflower soup, and also coleslaw (half a small cabbage was lurking in the far corner of the fridge).

I'm also tackling Mount Washington. Then I'll do all the floors. Have done my Sunday phone calls (my aged aunt and my best friend), and Country tracks is on.

Re 9/11, I was deeply moved during today's Andrew Marr show, to listen to the surviving head, Howard Lutnick, of Cantor Fitzgerald, the company which lost two-thirds of its staff when the Twin Towers were hit, (658 people, including Howard's brother). He said that he knew immediately in its aftermath that his and his surviving colleagues' purpose was to keep the company going and to support the families of his deceased staff, and that was agreed that very evening by the remaining staff ($200million given in support to the families to date). Their clients and customers kept the faith, and they also had help from so-called rival businesses. Cantor Fitzgerald and their families have an annual charity day on 9/12. The power of purpose to inspire and motivate....

Glad you're feeling better Claire. Please rest.

If my bag falls on anyone its going to seriously hurt! I have removed several 'just in case' items and will carry my heavy cardigan (putting it back in when I'm on the plane). But the bag is still overweight. I think what I'll do is see whether they let me get away with it and if not, repack a bit at the airport (taking my big handbag out of my suitcase) so that my hand luggage is a little more comfortable. I will definitely bung it in the hold on the way home, and I have room in case I need to do the odd bit of shopping...
