Kimsmum - What a lovely post ((hugs)) coming your way. You must have been through some carp and it is great you can finally let go.
Karmacat - Positive vibes for your Cousin and everyone else over there.
Greenbee - You might not feel you are doing much compared to usual but please don't overdo it - take some 'you' time and get fully rested.
Claire - glad your nails look good, I really should do mine more often as it makes me feel good if they look good! Unfortunately they chip so easily, although I have heard of a new varnish that is supposed to last for up to three weeks. It is some kind of gel so will have to try that when it is a more resonable cost.OD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j

Thanks Greenbee. A lot of virgin cooks can't cope with the 'handful' measure so I've had to try measuring/weighing. Then, of course, you get into the American cups v lbs and ozs v metric problem!
I'm reminded of the occasion when I asked the mother of a South Asian friend what sort of curry we were eating - this was via the friend as her mother had little English.
The reply? "What was in the cupboard and fridge. It's just curry." I rest my case. But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -

Lol I cheated though mine are acrylic french tipsall false I'm afraid
I'm afraid I'm a nail biter, I will leave them alone when they ar grown, but once they snap I bite or pick them,
a very horrible habit I am trying toget out of doing, hence trying to keep the false nails on as long as I can.
I have just done egg mayonaise rolls mmm haven't had that in ages, a very mse tea lol. we had a full cooked dinner at 1 so didn't really need another cooked meal, bought some sandwich stuff today, but we need to keep that to take with us tomorrow to save eating out too much while we are away. So egg mayo it was for tea.
Only need to think about breakfast tomorrow, but there are plenty of cereal and milk here, sarnies for the journey up and dinner, just need to find somewhere for evening meal then.Boiler pot £30.92/£10000 -
Hey all just having some downtime at pride b4 we go out again.
Just wanted to say welcome and bring it on to kimsmum, itmust have been so hard but here you are.
Also hello to Mr bloater. A man in our midst. Goodness. Loving all the soup chat. Need to get back into being organised when I come back up the road. GB, my stomach problems are the opposite to yours, if I ate that I'd have no friends!!!:rotfl:'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Hope you're having fun Souk ... I find it hard to imagine that you're not!
I think if you get used to pulses then they don't have the same level of side effect (also cooking them well helps). If you find it a problem, try charcoal after meals...
I'm bored... But CBA either to do housework or start the cake. In fact I can't even be bothered to read a book or watch a DVD...0 -
I feel a bit like that today GB. I am flitting. Aduki beans recipe. How about Red Dragon Pie This is a recipe. Like Tricia I dont tend to follow recipes so this is one I found on line. Also I use Aduki beans for chilli. Sarah Browne is a really good source for veggie recipes.
Ingredients
2 x 410g tins of aduki beans, drained (or 200g dried beans, soaked and cooked according to packet)
1 large onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, chopped
250g carrots, diced
½ pint tomato passata
¼ pint stock (I use 1 large teaspoon of vecon which has a fabulous flavour)
1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped (or a generous teaspoon of mixed dried herbs)
1-2 tbsps soy sauce
black pepper
450g potatoes, sliced thickly
25g butter
olive oil
Method
Preheat the oven to 200°C
Fry the onion and carrot in a little olive oil until softening, add the garlic and fry for a further minute
Add the beans, tomato passata, stock, herbs, soy sauce and freshly ground pepper to taste, bring to the boil then simmer for 5 minutes with the lid on before removing the lid and reducing the liquid to a thick delicious sauce. Pop into a pie dish (mine is 23cm)
Boil and mash potatoes and put on top of the filling.
Dot with butter and a drizzle of olive oil
Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the potatoes are nicely browned
Serve with steamed vegetables or salad.
To ring the changes you can top the pie with mashed potatoes for a veggie shepherd’s pie or sprinkle the potatoes with grated cheddar. Leave out the butter and cheese for a vegan dish. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Tuscan beans with tomato and sage
I am going to give this a go tonight - have 15 tins of cannellini beans:rotfl:found when we cleared out the kitchen cupboards - along with 12 tins of butter beans and 10 tins tuna:rotfl::rotfl:
Thanks Triciaxx
Throw the butter beans in! Tuscan Beans, according to me, is a moveable feast. Just think - a generation hence, people will be clamouring for 'Igamogam beans' Tuna sounds interesting anyway. I use canned tuna a lot.
We will all be Nonnas some day.But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
Thanks Cheri
I have mung, aduki, cannellini and butter beans in the freezer, and black eye, flageolet and pinto in the cupboard. I also have green, brown, French and red lentils. And grains include wheat, barley, millet, quinoa, brown rice, red rice, basmati rice. I need to cook with all of these regularly from now on.
And I have popcorn... And have found out how to cook it with water in the microwave so need to give it a go, although as Tricia says, we need oil in our diet!
What I need is a bit more enthusiasm for both cooking and eating. I have pigeon with lentils from the freezer for supper, so will have it with rice, carrots, courgette and French beans. assuming I can be bothered...0 -

... Which is better than the alternative ...
I've just realised that I have been out of hospital for 4 weeks. I have spoken to my brother 3 times (he called once, to speak to my dad) and had half a dozen texts (several while they were on holiday with messages for my parents or asking for addresses). I have had one text from my SIL. I saw my SIL for 5 minutes when I dropped my mother off there after she stayed with me. Am I being unreasonable in thinking they might have made a little more effort?0
