I am struggling a little with this. I'm fairly new - prob around 3 months and have won 3 items. At least 2 from creative effort (coming up with something funny). The 3rd item was a random draw, though I still added a little funny, so who knows if that was a factor. But I am quite anxious about upsetting peeps or being thought badly of - daft mare that I am, can't help it. Am I wrong to use IWIWIW? I don't want to irritate people - though they're small wins. But then there's the thing about newbies posting every little win - like it's something we will grow out of? I don't want to grow out of being thrilled to win anything.
I don't really like it when people are judgemental - in their posts or signatures. Ratgirl, I defo don't mean you. I think it's great to open this discussion. Clearly you speak for others. But I don't want to feel guilty if I win things - big or small. Neither do I want to feel greedy for entering lots of comps, including sometimes things that I might well give or sell on.
It's been a very difficult couple of years for me and hublet first class - like for others I'm sure. Is it so bad to enter lots, and lots of comps? Is it wrong to try to win something to sell on? I was totally thrilled to win a power tool from Bosch. It took effort to win, and then I sold it on - once I felt I could cope with letting my first prize go - lol. I hate to be thought of as greedy, or breaking an unwritten rule - but surely we all have the right to do this comping thing for our own reasons? We put in a lot of time here after all.
I just want to enjoy this, and not have to worry about the rights and wrongs of every aspect.
And BTW, I love to read things like someone winning the big one more than once. If they can, perhaps I can. I find IWIWIW encouraging, also when people list their wins in their signatures.
In my humbles we (me included) should worry about this less and enjoy it more. Sorry to go on.I am brave, I am bruised

Oh Blulu, not at all, feel free to enter as many as you like, I do, and I will be honest and say I sell pretty much everything I win, the money is very handy to buy things we couldn't otherwise afford, so makes things easier for us a little. Also please continue posting all your wins, it's great to see people winning, just gutted it's not me, but it is the luck of the draw I suppose, just this time of the year I suppose, little sunlight, no money, it's cold, missing people, etc...
But please don't be put off at all. I really hope I am not coming across as judgemental in any way as I really don't mean to be, as I said I am very happy to those who win, and not at all greedy to enter, win, sell. I'm sure loads of us do it, and you will never grow out of the excitement of winning, just thinking about it brings a smile to my face!!
And thank you Smartt21 xx To you too, and to all wishing you all (and me) tons and tons of good luck xx0 -
I totally agree with you rg. I've thought this for a while as I too use to win loads during my first couple of years, but I'm really struggling now. I just about gave up for a few months, just doing the odd comp if I could be bothered.
I'm back comping full time again, but still not winning other then a couple of collection 2000 Christmas kisses. I've changed my email, but that doesn't seem to be helping. Feeling really fed up at the moment as DSS is out doing a really bad job in Afghanistan and I thought comping would help keep my mind off it.
Oh well, I will win something nice soon. I will, I will, I will! Stamps foot!!!!£2021 in 2021 no.17 £1,093.20/£20210 -
Yep, same here, great first year/year and a half, and now hardly anything, I know there are less comps and more people entering, but I'm sure our names have something to do with it, they must get fed up of seeing the smae name, and just pick names that are new, I too have changed my email address, but can't change my name!0

Am a newbie too, almost 6 months and must admit I am still thrilled at even the smallest of wins, I still post in IWIWIW (providing I can find the OP which is hard sometimes!), just to thank that person for posting, as I wouldn't have that item if it wasn't for them.
Don't feel bad about entering loads of comps am sure many of us do, and if I won something I really didn't want am sure I would sell it on, though I have a sizeable family of all ages so everything I win is always gifted to one of them.
I had to retire last year on health grounds, and comping has become an enjoyable pastime, infact I look upon it as my new job :rotfl:I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Thanks Ratgirl. You don't come across as judgemental at all. Sorry about that. Reading what everyone said sort've stirred up some of my own doubts, and thank you for saying what you said.
I think this thread seems to apply to several of us in our different ways. It's great to have a forum to talk about our forum
Hope you write back soon to say you've won something amazing :beer:I am brave, I am bruised

I thought I would just add my comments! I think its a shame that peeps don't post on IWIW or in their sigs because they are scared of others being jealous or nasty. I love seeing what peeps have won, probably because I'm nosey but also because it reassures me that the prizes are being won. I have had a really good year, no enormous cash prizes but reckon I have had my fair share so I don't think it is all newbies who are winning.
Anyway just like to wish everyone loads of luck in their future comping!

I've just won an apron through FB and hubby and I had a good giggle about it! I'm as happy winning that as I was winning £250 from ITV as it is the feel-good factor. I'm already thinking of putting it in a hamper for NEXT (!!) Christmas for my Nana0
