Ha, i must be a weirdo then... cos i work every day of the week and agree with your about wanting to do nothing when i get home each evening etc. BUT when i have hols, the LAST thing i wanna do is nothing! I wanna get out and do fun stuff and find new things etc etc lol. I must be an odd bod! :A

Each to their own :) It's not that I don't like going away, I do, but every single time I have more than the weekend off DH wants to go away. Every bank holiday. Every long weekend. Every holiday day. So there's never time to just relax at home. Even on ordinary weekends he's wanting to go out for a walk or into town and I'm thinking 'but I've got to clear that wardrobe out sometime'. Which is not very exciting :o but very true!

    Also it's expensive!!

Thing is, if he's that desperate to sit at home and do nothing, why has he booked up next week to go away biking with his brother? OP said he's going for 5 days.

I do think it's a little unfair that he wants to spend more time with hs brother on his annual leave, than with his partner and son.

I agree. Whilst victory probably didn't help the situation I can entirely understand her frustration. If he can go biking with his brother for 5 days why can't he extend his holiday with wife and child for 5 days too. Why this inability to stay longer than 3 days baffles me.

Clearly I must be married to a freak man because we go on holiday end of the month (in UK) and my H is absolutely OK with the fact that we have no outings planned. We don't even know what we're going to do there unless it's really nice and we'll take the kids to the beach. He doesn't need an itinerary on what's available to him it's just nice to be able to be away from work for a week and to spend time with me and the kids. We get to explore a part of the UK we don't live that close to........isn't that the whole point of a holiday? We will just decide as a family what to do whilst we are there. I fail to see what's so traumatising about that.

Anyway I realise the victory won't be responding to this, I hope she's have a good break away with her son :)

I wonder whether perhaps he has a date booked at court, or something similar, that he has failed to mention to Viktory and which he cannot get out of.

See, comments like this twist things in the eye of the OP. We have no reason to believe he doesn't want to spend the time with them, only that he doesn't want to spend it sitting aimlessly around a camp site. It's perfectly plausible that he wants to things with them around home, where he can cheaply sleep in a comfy bed that night. As for the 5 days, he seems to have plenty of activities planned, like biking and such. Were his brother to suggest 5 days sitting around with nothing planned, he would probably get short shrift.

To be completely honest posts like the one I've just responded to unnecessarily bring insecurity and tension into a relationship, which is unforgivable when kids are involved.

I understand what you're saying suited-aces, but it doesn't sound like he was planning to do anything on the other days that he's home. Of course, I could be wrong, but that's the way I read the OP's posts as she said they'd be sitting around doing nothing.

Well, I hope it's all going well.

Guess they are down my neck of the woods, the distances suggest Longleat and Wookey Hole.

To prolong the holiday she can always:-

    1) Feed him to the lions
    2) Get him lost in Longleats' maze
    3) Let him wander off and get stranded in "the very dark caves".

Or find something actually fun to do that doesn't waste a holiday?

Longleat's maze will take up 8 hours of your day.

Have since learnt the knack for finding the quick way to the middle, but not put it to the test.

OMG, am just thinking if they took their car into the safari park to avoid extra costs.........it leads to monkey world........they will rip every loose accessory off your car - much cheaper in the long run to go on the crappy old Longleat coach, then you can laugh at the cars in the monkey area.

Oooh we're going there in a couple of weeks!

OH's family are based in Somerset, and my brother and his family will be holidaying there the same week, so we can spend a little time with both.

OH has fond memories of Wookey Hole and ......what's the other one......Cheddar Gorge. :D
