I'm feeling really annoyed on your behalf now! I wouldn't be able to leave him to sulk like a spoilt kid, I'd have to have words....But then that's me, hot southern temper! lol I hope you can enjoy the few days still, if only by seeing your son enjoying himself.

As a just incase printed off a load of campsites that are nearby trying to engage him in conversation but he won't have it,
Speaking as a bloke; "great, so you've found us somewhere to sleep, we have somewhere, a lot comfier, to sleep back here. What will we be doing between sleeps?"

being a bloke again: "exactly, that's 3 days wort of stuff, I'm happy to go for three days. What about the rest of the time you want to go? What actually is there to do there that we couldn't do here more comfortably?"

  • I think it is too late in the day now for trying to compromise. For the sake of your very excited son, you need to back down. don't get me wrong, I think it's nuts to go all that way and only stay a couple of days but because none of this was made clear and you have a lack of communication, you are just going to spoil the couple of days that you are going to have.
When you get back, let it be known that next year you are booking a week/fortnight away and start saving now. If he knows the plans upfront, he cannot complain.
I had a miserable sod of a husband who hated holidays. After the first 3 or 4, i just gave up and took the kids and my sister and we went away every year for a fortnight without him. He was well happy - luckily, so were we !!

  • by the way, where are you going? you mentioned the Safari Park. Is it the one at the West Midlands? If so, there's absolutely loads to do. I live not too far away and can give you loads of places to go/things to see.
