while greedy corporations continue to move jobs abroad there will always be high unemployment.
  • True loads of companies have employed cheap labour abroad, like a lot of the major call centres are now in India where they pay them about £5 grand per year for what they would get about £18,000 here and look at Primark and even Gap employ slave labour.Lots of factories have now been moved to Poland like Cadburys and Twinnings etc.
  • I used to be a Police Officer before having kids, worked for local education dealing with placements and emplyability skills, worked for Seetec on their New Deal program and applied for a job at Ingeus.....yet I didn't pass the initial online application!! No sure why and they wont give feedback.

Frustrating as spent quality time on the application. Having read some comments maybe they are more interested in sales people to hit their targets rather than those with the skills to encourage and teach the skills needed for work etc.

One has just opened in Stevenage so guess Seetec here have lost alot of contracts to them. :D

even a company like microsoft that makes billions in profit makes their xbox 360's in china. of course that is an american company so really they should be manufacturing them in america. although i wouldnt argue against a factory in each continent dedicated to manufacturing the product for sale in that area.
  • Hi Everyone,

I'm lucky as I have been able to get a 6 month temp contract - not through ingeus though. However, my brother goes down to see them every two week, usually on the same day he signs on at the jobcentre. However, they phoned him the other day asking him to come down to see them; not on a day he signed on but they did not refund his bus fare. Is this right - I thought training programmes, like this, always refunded your bus fare. My brother is not very good at coming forward and asking for things like this but still, I thought they would have refunded him his bus fare - especially when it was his last £4.

Can someone advise if they do refund bus fares.

Thanks everyone and hopefully, I won't have to use this company in the future. :j

they are supposed to refund bus fares but they act like its their money. so you have to say i want to claim bus fares. due to them acting like its their money they will make you feel like a criminal and ask you to provide your bus ticket as proof even though they dont really have to. they do claim they have to but they dont really.
if they refuse either look up their complaints procedure and go down that route or you could just go to the jobcentre and report it.
  • Thanks DonnaJunkie for your reply.

As I thought, they refund bus fares. I will have to get my brother to be more forthright as they are not refunding his payments. I am going to ask him to put a complaint in, however, as I said before, he is not very good at doing things like that. I have no problem in complaining, but my borhter; that's another matters. If he doesn't complain - do you think they would pay any attention to my complaint. It is so frustating as I feel they are taking advantage of someone who does not have the confidence to confront organisations like this.

Do you know if they are supposed to refund bus fares, even if they visit Ingeus on the day they sign on at the job centre. He said they refunded the first couple of payment but that was all. They have not refunded any fares for the last 6 or 7 times he visited. I believe, he is being taken advantage of but what can I do about it, if he is not willing to stand up for himself. ???mmmmmm It is so frustrating.

dont start the complaints procedure unless he has asked for his bus fares and been refused. whether he would get anywhere with a complaint i dont know but i suspect that is the way he is expected to deal with it at first. if he got no joy from a complaint then that would be the time to take it to the jobcentre or even citizens advice.
if the appointment is on the same day as signing on he may not be able to get fares for that appointment. i'm not sure about that though. if they are based somewhere different to the jobcentre and it requires spending more money on the bus to get there then i think he would still be able to claim even if it is on a signing day.
  • people do get unfairly sanctioned. it happens quite alot.
60 into work? over what period and out of how many in total?
not suffering? well maybe theres a better word but constantly being told you've got to do this and you've got to do that and if you dont you get sanctioned is not what i would call pleasant. if i could transfer to another benefit and avoid all that i would.

I could not comment on people being unfairly sanctioned, an officer of the DWP gathers the information and then it is up to a Decision Maker to use legislation to determine if that person should have a sanction imposed.Over the last 6 months in the area I am in I would say about a quarter of those into work are over 60. Well at the end of the day it may not be a pleasant experience to be told to do this or do that because you may get sanctioned, but it is a benefit with conditions attached to it and this have to be complied with in order to receive the benefit. I can understand how people may prefer to transfer to another benefit if applicable, but still a choice for them if a choice is there.
