INGEUS - Work Programme

Ive discovered that INGEUS is one of the prime contractors for many parts of the country. Is anyone with them already? Its categorised in the Sunday Times top 100 companies..(21st).I wonder if thats to work for or to be helped by?

Theyre looking for a lot of staff so that'll be a laugh if I apply for various positions with them and get turned down for them all despite my years of admin experience and some advisory role experience as well as being trained in an assessment capacity by a voluntary organisation...if I dont turn out to be good enough to work for this Prime contractor then how can they sit and patronise to me I have to do this that and the other to find a job in the same capacity in other firms if Im not deemed good enough to work for them. I could produce the best CV in the world and interview the best way in the world..and have all the credentials..and still not get the job. It will be an interesting exercise :))) You can bet too all the jobbie advisors will be applying to this company too as 20 were laid off in my JC last week. So you will most likely be meeting the same little patronising tin pot gods in this organisation as you met in the JC earlier. Oh joy!

I rest my case...I contacted them because their application site was not working properly. The ad was only in the paper yesterday. The closing date is the 12 August.

    This is their reply.

You sound a little bitter at them, have they wronged you in some way?

Not sure what the second post means beyond a message from them?

I think the OP is saying that they've been told it's too late to apply but the closing date is 12th August.

If it's any help, I went for an interview for them to work in their office, not as an advisor about a year ago.
They insisted the interview had to be early in the morning, only for me to turn up to a closed office - lights out etc no one had bothered to turn up. HR and the person i'd be reporting to were both late and the only person to turn up on time was the trainee HR girl who could only apologise.

Needless to say, at the interview I told them I wasn't interested in the company, and that I was sorry to have wasted their time. Nothing personal against the company though, it could have been anyone else.

Ah, yes I have now re-read.
  • I was with them for a year under Flexible New Deal and to be honest didn't really achieve much. All that happened was that I would go to their office every 2 weeks, they would look at my Jobcenter search book and proceed to book the next appointment slot. Occasionally, they would assign simple tasks like creating speculative letters and to fire them off to fifteen random companies in the area, which I find ironic seeing that they won't accept spec letters for there own positions!

All changed now. They would have been paid for you attending but under Work Programme the majority of the payments are when you get a job and then more after 2 yrs of sustained employment. The main contract holders are really panicking about getting employers on board to try and ensure they can get paid otherwise they will go bust (their words recently at a meeting). Changes the emphasis from quantity to quality!

I have been to Ingeus twice, both times they didn't have a clue what to do for me (as I have already been offered a job but it doesn't start until September)
I ended up telling them what to do, and then when they booked my next appointment I suggested they work out my tax credits. On arrival she said she didn't know how to, but that was ok as I'd already done that myself.
All in all, I can't see how they are going to help anyone get a job.
And the most annoying part is that I have to stay under their training programme for two years (even though I have a job) and they will be paid at the end of it for a job I found myself.

if the only money they get paid is when people get jobs then they will go bust.
  • I was offered a job with them as an advisor but turned it down. The role was not permanent, which I expected I guess, but the targets were more like sales targets and I felt like the people I'd be seeing would be on a conveyor belt. I'll give them this, I felt their recruitment process was very thorough so no doubt their advisors have the nous to do the job. I think I just didn't like the salesy atmosphere.

Smileydongle..didnt you get sanctioned for turning the job down? Eleanor Rig didnt you get sanctioned for telling them what to do? Some of the videos on their webpage mention clients with difficult behaviour and how to handle them (not saying you were being difficult) but rumour has it that if you do show any signs of not wanting to do this that and the other you will get sanctioned.

In the test questions Advisors are expected to see 12 clients a day according to the website. How can you see 12 clients between 9am and I presume 5pm and give them your undivided? Working for them sounds unpleasant.

yes I am bitter because Im sick to death of being given the third degree about getting a job every time I sign on and Im 58 years old. Ive worked since I was 15. Im not saying I dont want to work and I am actively seeking work its just the ridiculousness of being booted up the derrier by people half and a quarter my age because I cant find a job when at my age there are not many jobs to be had....Im not and have never been a lazy person in this respect....I dont get my pension for another 6 years. Oh joy!

I will be putting on my job log that I applied to INGEUS and the outcome. Not that my job log will be looked at as many of them arent. In fact I keep rehashing the same job log just changing the dates and jobs applied for! And nobody has noticed this since I keep seeing different advisers every time I go.

I also noticed on this Ingeus website they ask for your age on the Equal Ops form....well there is always one way to find out how old you are even if youre told dont put it on your CV.

It seems that company double standards are ok as long as the person claiming benefits is not doing them.
