Hi there,
I’m a Radio 4 journalist currently working on a programme about the government’s Work Programme.
I am interested to hear from people who are currently doing courses run by the private providers such as A4E, Ingeus, Reed in Partnership, Seetec etc. Also I would like to talk to those who run or used to run the courses.
My email address is anna.meisel@bbc.co.uk and my telephone number is 07706154283.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Anna Meisel0 -
I got referred to Ingeus in July by the jobcentre, since then I have seen them twice (isn't it supposed to be fortnightly?). They've already started making the same noises as A4e did, i.e. that I'm not going to get a job anywhere. I was expecting that, but what makes my blood boil it that they won't tell that to the jobcentre because they told the DWP they can get anyone a job. If only I was a lying con-artist, I could get a fat govt contract too!I didn't ask to be born!0

Why are they telling you that your not going to get a job anywhere? Thats dreadfull. Is that because of the job situation or because of your circumstances?0

they dont usually say you arent going to get a job anywhere. they usually say you have no chance getting what you want to do. that is usually because somewhere like tesco wants a constant supply of slaves. so they are often keen to push people into jobs they dont like. that is a big part of why people hate these courses.0 -

if they started telling people they have no chance of getting any job then they would get people responding with will you leave me alone then. well apart from the minimum once a month appointment of course. during that they neednt bother asking to see evidence of jobsearch if they think you have no chance of getting a job.0 -
How do they know you have no chance of getting what you want? A friend of mines Mum signed on just for her NI contrubutions, she was previously a Barrister and returned to doing this after a period of unemployment.
My adviser at the jobcentre previously worked at BEST she said that people had to do 30 weeks doing jobsearch andthat many were dismissed of the course because they could not cope with the personal frustration of looking at the same 3 jobs day in day out. This country has failed terribly and the Tories should hang their heads in shame.
When I've been to the jobcentre even cleaners cant get jobs, thats how bad it is!0 -
dandelionclock30 - whats your soultion to unemployment?0
-
For the government to sort out the economy so that there a period of sustainable economic growth. There is no other solution. When there is economic growth there are jobs when there isnt there is chronic unemployment.
No amount of work programmes and job clubs are going to make the slightest bit of difference to the unemployment level and you dont have to have a masters in economics to appreciate that.0 -
But the question was what's your solution, not what is the problem!0

I have answered the question, my solution is to address the problem. What dont you understand?0
