Ah probably wont, I'm not much of a gambler. I do my national lottery weds and sat on subscription and thats the lot for me!!
That's what I mean - there are ways of making hundreds of pounds without gambling :)

You've reminded me to check my lottery numbers for tonight - 1 number :(
I would love to know how it works though cos I cant find anything on there about how it knows hat you buy!!! I dont need to buy anything on line so dont want to spend out for the sake of finding out! Anyone give me a short but sweet version of how it works?
Quidco sets a 'cookie' in your internet browser which the the shopping site can read, so it knows that you came via Quidco. The shopping site then calculates how much money you need to be paid and pays it to Quidco, which then passes it on to you.

It's worth clearing your cookies before going through Quidco each time, in case another site has set a cookie for the shopping site you're going to - if that happens you may not get the Quidco cashback. If you don't know how to clear your cookies, let me know which internet browser you use (e.g. Internet Explorer) and I'll find out :)

ok quick questions, when calculating how much money I've 'earned' for this challenge should I count quidco money when it is actually money or just when it first tracks. Basically after signing up for an A&L account tonight and other bits and bobs I'll be up to 60ish quid when it all comes through fully, so should I add that now or wait till it is showing as Received or Paid or am I just thinking too much?

Hundreds without gambling?? Tell me more!!!!! I didn't see that on there!
I dont even bother checking my numbers, could be a millionaire right now!! It gets paid straight to my bank if i win so I'll find out soon enough! I dont actually know my numbers anyway, was set up about 4 years ago and I cant remember them!!!

As for the cookies, I've done as they suggested and installed firefox browser just for quidco. I didn't want to delete the cookies everytime I brought something as I'll lose track of passwords and logins for other sites!

On the plus side tho, I've just earned a quid by signing up to yougov!! yay we're rolling!!! :rotfl:

Ah that's a good plan. If you did want to clear the cookies in Firefox just click on Tools and then Clear Private Data.

You can also download Cookie Culler which will let you tell Firefox which cookies to keep (e.g. the one for MSE that keeps your login details) every time you choose to delete all your others.

Exactly the same as me - except nothing ever seems to get paid into my bank :rotfl:

I've had a couple of £10s but nothing to write home about. I told my family my new years resolution was to the win the lottery but they just laughed!!!! I've got just as much chance of actually doing it as everyone elses resolutions!!!

I've just read through the first couple of posts on the matched betting thing and it's confused the hell out of me!!! I've always been maths minded but it all seems so complicated to me, never having placed a bet in my life probably doesn't help! Might try again on Monday morning when I'm a bit more with it and alert!!

Don't say that - I'm giving up smoking

It does take quite a while for the penny to drop, but the good thing is you don't have to know anything about sport or betting, and it's an ideal way to make money for a challenge like this, once you've made your first £100 or so from eBaying etc (you do need about that much to start matched betting - but you can double it in your first day :)). In case it helps I'll try to explain the basic procedure without all the details that can be confusing:

The bookie Coral will give you a free £50 bet, but first you have to bet £50 of your own money.

The way to do this without gambling is to find something to bet on where the odds at Coral are the same or similar to the odds on the "Betting Exchange" website Betfair - this is a site where people bet against each other so you can take a bet from someone else.

So you bet your £50 at Coral on, say, Liverpool, and then you accept a £50 bet at Betfair from someone who wants to bet on Liverpool. This means that if Liverpool win, you win money at Coral and pay out the same amount to the punter at Betfair. If Liverpool don't win, you lose your £50 at Coral but win £50 at Betfair as the punter you took the bet from was wrong and has lost their money (you now have it :)).

Either way, you've still got roughly the amount of money you started with, and you now have a £50 free bet in your Coral account. You use this in the same way as the first bet, meaning that you should have, more or less, an extra £50 - you have doubled your money

Then you move on to the next bookie who's offering a free bet - there are loads of them - and repeat the process.

Hope that's clear ... as clear as mud, probably :rotfl:

PS Some bookies are also on Quidco so you get extra cash for signing up, and Betfair gives you £25 through Quidco AND a £25 bonus when you sign up :)

Could I please join the olympic challenge. If it's not too late I'd like to go for bronze. Don't know how I am going to achieve this yet as I don't have much left to eBay and don't understand matched betting but its better to have tried and failed than to never have tried at all; so fingers crossed and good luck to everyone else taking part in the challenge.
