2007 Olympic Challenge

Here it is then - earlier than advertised as I have a bit of time to sort it out!
So the new challenge starts on the 7th January and runs for 6 months ending on the 7th July 2007. There are 3 levels of the challenge and you can choose which one you want to go for - of course you can upgrade if you feel you are doing well.
Bronze - total £1007
Silver - total £2007
Gold - total £3000
Please post and tips/tricks of the trade to increase totals on this thread and I or Jet will update this 1st post so everyone can see it all in one place.
If you post here stating level we can draw up a table showing who is in and what level they are on - if you put your level and total achieved in your sig then we can update table on regular basis. Please don't forget - if you have a good earning idea don't keep it to yourself share it here and we can all become DF asap - that's why most of us are here really isn't it.
If I have missed anything please tell me - any ideas gratefully received!
Good luck to one and all :T
We have decided that bank charges refunds should not be included in total as it doesn't represent making huge effort to make extra money (luckily for those who have or are in the process of being refunded it simply takes (in most cases) a few letters) We are happy for you if you get them refunded but it doesn't seem fair for everyone. Please tell us if you have been successfull as it is great and you should be congratulated. Maybe add it in brackets after your total.

Rules
Money must come from anything extra to your normal income. All the cash back sites count as it hasn't cost you to get the money. You can sign up to mystery shopping but remember to take expenses from earnings.
Tips/tricks of trade

Amazon

Amazon 'Sell Your Stuff'

You can sell books, CD's, DVD's, and more on Amazon. It is very easy to list them and, unlike ebay, there are no fees until you make a sale.

Ebay

Learn how to sell
You can sell anything on Ebay (well almost!). Listing can be quite time consuming and it costs to list items even if they don't sell. Ebay can be fun and quite addictive!

This is a good focus group website:

http://www.focus4people.com/index.asp

Mostly in london, but if you are close enough to go there then you could earn some serious money. I have only matched their requirements once and wasn't accepted so I don't know yet if the focus groups are any good but it was recommended to me by someone who has done one and said it was very good and good money.

Another tip is to join swapit shop and collect free points, then get vouchers or goods for these free points then sell them on ebay. You can get the points from this thread:

Hi All....ref getting money for nothing...here's a cracking tip for anyone with a Lloyds bank account!!! Full details on post #81

http://www.aqa.issuebits.com/vacancies.htm

It's a completely flexible, do as much or as little as you want, part-time work from home job, all the details in the link. It's a text messaging service and you will be hired as a researcher to answer the questions people send in and you get paid 30p per text, you do it through a pc not your mobile phone. I do it and it's ok money, and quite fun. You need a degree though and the test to pass is not easy, plus they are not hiring right now but check everyday coz it seems to change daily, my friend has now joined and she checked everyday for a week then they re-advertised for england. I would recommend it, and there is a thread about it somewhere on the DFW boards, people are speaking highly of it.

This should help with a few of my other challenges.

Nervously agreeing to this but I desperately don't want to fail.:o

Sign me up for Bronze please. Have signed on with 3 mystery shopping agencies, Quidco and Pigsback, plan to Ebay like mad this year, go back to car booting and not adverse to robbing the odd bank ! Also waiting to hear back from AQA.

Fingers crossed and good luck everyone !:j
I was going to take over the world but got distracted by something sparkly.......
  • Would it be possible for you to put a list of 'rules' for the challenge? I am a bit confused as to what I can and cannot count towards my total. For example, I know that I am going to get some extra money this month from work. It is not part of my usual money coming in, but isn't from a job started specially for this challenge, so does in count?

    many thanks,

  • Ok guys you have convinced me, quite new to all this MS but having recently (4 weeks) discovered coupons and saved a fortune from them, I have opened a savings account for the first time in my life (33) and plan to clear a debt a month (most small ones owe about £8000 in total).
    So lets do it.
I will go for bronze and am sure will need lots of tips along the way.
The kids had a few duplicate dvds for christmas presents so if I ebay these that would count?
Also how about if I cancelled the windo cleaner and did it myself? Is that free money or not?

Thanks for starting this Annie. I'll be going for bronze - although I thought the bronze challenge was to raise £1024 in 11 weeks? Am a bit confused?

My tip would be to join Pigsback (https://www.pigsback.co.uk) and try and get as many free vouchers as possible and then sell them on. The first two posts on this thread are a fantastic help:
