Not yet - surveyor should have visited the house today - so hope to get that report later this week. I kept wondering when I should next contact the solicitor or whether I leave him to get on with it and assume he will contact me as and when he needs to.

I think i'm becoming a bit of a pest to my solicitor and EA. I email or phone at least every other day. But I seem to find out more info than those put together!! I also speak to the council direct about the searches!
    Good luck
  • I'm still waiting on the sellers solicitor, everything else is ready it's sooooooo frustrating I just want a date!!!!

    Ditto, Ditto, Ditto!!!
It panics me, when the hold up is their side......makes me question things, and that's always a dangerous thought process!
I think if I had a date-even if it's 3 weeks away, i've got something to cling onto!
We originally were aiming for this Friday to complete, 6 weeks since offer tomorrow. No lower or upper chain on our house sale and still no sign of completion.
Searches apparently in, (2 wks ago), but council saying no sign of them, had surveyor report and all legalities ready to go.
Seems like nothing is happening.....give me a date!!!!!
    Good luck with all yours!!

Just had an update from my solicitor.....apparently the initial letter and cheques for searches aren't in from the buyer, so the searches haven't been put in. Even though that is, that we have been told for 2 weeks that searches are in!! Why do I feel everybody is lying to us.
Solicitors, estate agents?? It's been 6 weeks since official offer and searches haven't even been paid for. No mortgage offer either apparently (surveyors report done last week).
    This is painstaking arrrggghhhhh
  • Well due to the above comments I contacted my solicitor ... only to discover that his contract letter and a cheque from us haven't arrived yet ... sent a week ago first class!!!. Though he says it isn't holding anything up as he is awaiting on communication from the seller's solicitor.

So thanks for giving me the nudge to contact him. I was left with the impression that it wasn't a problem to ring him up at all, whereas I hadn't wanted to hassle him.

Good job you chased it up really, could have been a while before they chased you!
Are you having to re-do contract and resend it or are they hoping original will arrive?

He is happy to wait a couple more days for it to arrive, but if the information from the other solicitors arrives and the lack of cheque is going to delay things then he will contact us and we will go in and do it in person this time! (Not risk the post a second time!!!). Luckily it is a local solicitor. I nearly hand delivered it at the time - now wishing I had!

And I probably wouldn't have chased it if it hadn't been for the comments here ... phew!! (I think he would have chased it himself if it was going to cause a delay).
  • Still no date and found out estate agent has been lying about the 28 day thing, and the seller hasn't paided for the management agent to prepare all the leasehold bits, looks like I'm kipping on friends floors got to leave my rented place the 22nd oct

Im in a similar situation. Had offer accepted on fri 16th sept, and the decision in principle was done on the same day. Full application was completed on the monday, and got result of valuation today. I was advised not to cash the cheque with the solicitors (even though they have been appointed) until i had the full mortgage offer - which i 'should' get by friday (according to my broker). How long realistically do people think it would be till we get a date for moving? We have to give one months notice to our landlord, and the rent comes out on the 9th of each month, so i dont know what to do with regards to that and when to let them know?! We are first time buyers if you didnt already guess!
