I wouldn't have thought I could get the Flamingo for the same price as the IP...at the moment it's coming out at almost double the price so it would have to be a really good promo to bring it down to the IP price.

The reason I said the IP was pants was the rooms....I've been told they are dull, dingy and dated....I know we are only going to be sleeping there but I would like some sort of comfort and I was told comfort is not what you get.
Then again I'm only used to 3* european hotels so what do I know

You never know with the prices, as I have said before I got the Flamingo for $60 a night last month, which was less than the IP at the time.

I can tell you that IMO all the rooms in Vegas and the rest of the USA from what I have seen are better than a 3* european hotel.

I think some of the rooms at the IP have recently been redone, but from memory they are smaller than most rooms on the strip.

If you havent been before though I dont think you will be disappointed wherever you stay.

Personally speaking for £20 a night you cant go wrong.

For that sort of price, I would agree with you. :)

I hope that you didn't take any offense to my comments - but you will find that many of the good reviews of CC are Europeans while most Americans will turn their nose up at the place...it's just really down to the space available in the US to build these nice big hotels whereas in many parts of Europe, we're stuck with what is already there. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Certainly not any feedback I get is brilliant whether it's good or bad.If people don't tell me what they think then how am I going to know whether a place is going to be suitable for us.

    eg
I booked a hotel in Benidorm earlier in the year because it was a cheap deal.Someone I thought was a good friend had stayed there and when I told her I was thinking of booking she raved about her stay there leading me to believe it was a good hotel. After I'd booked it I read several reviews saying the food was CR*P as was the service. When 2 months later I got a letter from the holiday company saying there was building work going on opposite I jumped at the chance to change to another hotel when offered. After I told this so called mate we had changed hotels she told me she was glad we had changed as she'd hated the week she had there and had to eat out every night even though they were full board as the food was not edible......well why the hell didn't she say so before I booked.

So see what I mean....any comments I get are helpful even if you do feel they are negative ones.

So I'm sticking to my original choice of IP for 1 week and Tropicana for 1 week unless some super cheap deals come up for a better hotel.
Did consider Excalibur at one point but not sure if I can cope with all those screaming kids

Hard to beat for price/location I would say. Two weeks on the Strip? That's too much for me. Only so many volcanoes/lions/pirates etc. I can take. Still, you can always move to another hotel ( Downtown, Off-Strip etc. ) if you fancy a change.

We are hoping with staying in Hotels at either end of the strip it won't be so bad and we do intend to spend a couple of evenings Downtown

Yeah, it's a good plan. Two great locations. As long as the rooms are clean then not much else matters.

Fond memories of the Trop. Those were the days.
