I'm on Orange Pay as you Go.....will my phone work when I get to Vegas or do I have to ring Orange before hand?
Would it be better for me to buy a USA compatible sim card when I get there

I think your phone needs to be a tri-band phone to work in the US, so some of it will depend on your handset. My t-mob PAYG worked just fine. You're on holiday for gods sake, why do you need a phone:rolleyes: .

Be gentle with me my first post.

I received an email from United Vacations with great offers until March 2008. To get these prices you must phone the number. The only problem is that the flights are not direct

If you want to climb the Eiffel Tower in Paris, visit a Pyramid in Egypt, travel in a Gondola along the Canals in Italy or see the skyline of New York all in one day, then anything is possible in Las Vegas! If you want to see some fantastic scenery of Las Vegas then take a flight over the Grand Canyon with a final sweep down the Strip. For those of you who would rather shop till you drop then you will be spoilt for choice and won't know where to start; from your high street shops to the exclusive boutiques.

If you need to phone eaxh other, my guess is a USA pay as you go sim is best..but that is a guess.

To phone back to the UK, I have bought a phone card and used the payphones...much cheaper than usuing your mobile

    Hi and welcome.

Those prices are not brilliant and can be beaten without trying to hard (maybe not on all dates)

I dont think there are many if any on here who advocate booking packages as there always good deals on hotells in Vegas.

Strat is often available for less than $50 a night so about £100 for 4 nights that leaves £420 pp for flights and that can usually be beaten especially for a connecting flight

Heard there were at least 4 new hotels on the strip - mid strip i think. Anyone been recently ? Not sure were to stay. Thinking Planet H, Paris,New Y , Bellagio or if really lucky the Venetian. which would you go for out of that lot. dont want anywere too snobby ( if you know what i mean ) dont want to feel like i shouldnt be there sort of thing......lol

Not sure which hotels you are referring to. I have been this year, lots of construction, but none opened this year as far as I am aware.

You wont go wrong with any of those choices, it all comes down to what you want to pay

Not sure about your snobby quote, if you pay your money you can go were you want to go, but by the very nature of top class and more expensive hotels, there will be lots of wealthy people staying in them, although I dont see what difference that makes.

Many thanks for finding the Virgin info for me Ferf. It's looking likely that we'll be going with Virgin in May, if I get a good price, as bmi are coming up at £558 just for the MAN - LAS leg and then I have to add Aberdeen - MAN.

Sorry for the delay in replying, but I'm not getting email notification of replied to this topic even though I am subscribed.

I like THIS SITE which gives you 360 deg views of the rooms and casinos at most of the hotels. Just choose the hotel from the list on the left.

I often check on the site you provided a link to as it also gives you good views of the pool areas.

You dont get email notification of replies!!!!

At this short notice you may find it difficult to get a good deal in a hotel as if they are close to capacity there is no need to discount, I have just tried a few and the prices shocked me!

Was it wise to get rid of the meal option on such a long flight?

Sorry my post isnt more helpful

Because I'm leaving my teenage daughter at home for 2 weeks.

I wont be using it to ring anyone in the US just to text my daughter at home to make sure she's ok.
I tend to use msn usually when we are away but because of the time difference there may not be an opportunity.
I'll just have to manage with emails I suppose
