this is taken from my thread, if your witty you'd simply migrate after 6 months:
Quote
" For those of you who are confused heres a typical example in lamens terms, compared to say the latest popular virgin broadband deal:
1. Virgin Deal (3GB Limit) = £17.99 x 12 = £215.88 for 12 months
2. E7even deal (Unlimited) = £118 (for 6 months) + £10 (v21.co.uk transfer charge @ months 6) + £19.98 (introductory offer for two months) then say 16.99 x 4 (for remaining 4 months to a full year) = £215.94 for 12 months
So if you do it like this example (it could be cheaper depending on offers out over the next year) it works out just 6p more for the year but you get a free decent £55 modem and unlimited bandwidth! you also have the advantage of not being tied into a long term contract, so could change if say another good deal comes out, or the price of broadband drops etc. It’s easy when you know how.
and my offer still stands, those who use my referal code (708315) when signing up will have £10 sent back to them! ;D "
by the way you could always flog the modem on ebay of your happy with the one you've got. They call me Mr Pig!0 -
2. E7even deal (Unlimited) = £118 (for 6 months) + £10 (v21.co.uk transfer charge @ months 6) + £19.98 (introductory offer for two months) then say 16.99 x 4 (for remaining 4 months to a full year) = £215.94 for 12 months
what is v21.co.uk? What is the deal with e7even for 12mths.0 -
Chipz, e7even deal for 1 year is
Connection fee £50
12 months @ £15.00: £180 (plus 3 months extra free = 15 months)
Annual membership: £20 ( you have to pay this)
Free modem router too !
For this you get 15 months 512kbps unlimited download connection with a static ip address (Good) and .uk domain name registration and hosting free too!To infinity and beyond!0 -
E7even are at:
http://www.e7even.com/index.html
Their site says that they cost £250 the first year and £200 a year thereafter. A weasel word in their blurb is "from the EQUIVALENT of £16.66 a month" which I think means that they expect you to cough up the whole £250 in advance. If you already have broadband with another company and "migrate" they may not charge the fifty quid set up fee - I've e-mailed them for confirmation but as yet no reply. So it may only cost £200 for year one.
They also, until Monday night (8th Nov '04) are offering a free modem and three months free, so you should be getting fifteen month for either £250 or £200.
Adsl4less can be found at:
http://www.adsl4less.com/broadband-products.htm
They charge a £69.99 set up fee if you take out a monthly contract and only £58.75 if you sign up for a year (but I think they still charge by monthly DD).
If you migrate they only charge a £14.99 fee but I don't know if you are locked in for a year or only monthly.
Whichever set up fee you pay, it is only £14.99 a month. So it is £179.99 p.a. plus £14.99/£58.75/£69.99
I tend towards a system that doesn't lock you in for a year (or charge a year in advance) as prices seem to be changing so fast.
Note that Javuvu is getting commission for everyone he recommends, although he is recommending a fairly good package (I think, as he makes it rather hard to understand).

OOps! I left out V21.
This can be found at:
https://www.v21.co.uk
They seem to be offering unlimited broadband for £16.99 a month with a current special offer of only 9.99 the first two months. Set up: £69.99 for monthly contract, £58.75 for yearly contract and £10.00 for migration.

Tesco Broadband £19.97/month. Has anyone else tried this deal? Service at 512 is extremely good (have checked with speed tests). Support is terrible. It seems service is so popular they cannot deal with questions, so if you have technical problems - forget it. I believe you also get clubcard points0

just found a deal by virgin
£17.99 inc activation and modem, capped at 3GB. no contract only 30 days notice.
http://www.virgin.net/internetaccess/broadband/plantwo/?buspart=134
am i missing something? Thinking one could signup for a month or so, then migrate to either metronet or plusnet.0 -
Yes, I think a common opinion on the board is that you can cut costs by signing up with Virgin or someone like them with low start up costs, then switch to someone cheaper e.g. metronet.
I don't think plusnet is all that cheap as they charge £14.99 a month for lilmited access, whereas the cheapest unlimited access, adsl4less charges £14.99 however much you download.
Does anyone out there use adsl4less? What do you think of them?
Here's the site:

Hi Chipz,
I don't think the Virgin offer includes a free modem - you have to buy the optional broadband starter pack for £19.99 if you need one (I think). This still looks like a good deal as a platform to migrate from, some time after the free activation has taken place.
I ordered Wannado for my mother @ £17.99/month, free connection, free modem, 1Mbps speed, 2Gb/month cap. Just waiting for the free modem and the line to be activated. There will be no stopping her then

Not quite true - http://www.efhbroadband.com/ - not a recommendation just an observation. I wouldn't claim they are the cheapest - but the cheapest I've seen.0
