NEWBIE (!) best priced/quality full HD 32 inch to go with tivo or v+hd box??!

Hello all-new to the complexities of full hd tv so be gentle....(!). looking for a full hd (1080) 32 inch tv to go with a tivo/v+hd box...

Found this link http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B004FO7AIC/ref=sr_1_3_olp?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1311844039&sr=1-3&condition=new for a toshiba & this link http://www.amazon.co.uk/SEG-32100DVB-32-inch-Full-1080p/dp/B004OVE278/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1311844290&sr=1-6 for another model. For new i guess I won't get cheaper? Is it worth going for a slightly larger model that's refurbished or best to go brand new? For what it's worth I'd be quite happy if product was new but was a 'second' quality (ie if slight scratches etc). Also can anyone reccomend cheapest place to buy cover for tv-& is it worth it?

Will be hooking up a DVD player (not HD ) & using a ps2 (only sometimes) on it too.

Any help/sugestions would be fab!

Won't comment of your choice of manufacturer, but are you sure 32" is a big enough screen for your needs, you will have to sit very close indeed to see any difference in an HD picture.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Hi-our sitting room is not huge at all & we're only 5-7 feet away from TV.
  • Couldn't find a Which? review on either model sorry.

Any more feedback/help guys? Are the 2 I've found good? Is it worth buying a refurbished but bigger model?

Advice or suggestions? Worth buying a bigger but refurb model? Any ideas on the best site for refurbs? Can you take out insurance against breakdown with refurb?

    Any expert views?

    Thanks in advance!

I'd go for a new model. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with refurbs, but they may not be all that much cheaper. If you don't want to spend much, you don't have to. And particularly if you are just watching regular TV, there are no real advantages to be gained by getting something more expensive.

Though do remember, broadcast HD isn't in "full HD" (and I doubt we'll see that for a while yet), so a full HD over a standard "HD ready" will give you no real advantage, particularly at that size.

Ah...ok. Esqui-thanks for that! So say Virgin Media, Coronation street in HB-would not be full 1080?

As far as I am aware, no. The Virgin media boxes output in 1080i at most*

    I've recently bought this one;

    http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/samsung-ps43d450-43-hd-ready-plasma-tv-10078456-pdt.html

It's a 43inch tho & I cannot fault it! I can connect my laptop using a SVGA cable & I can also connect my USB external H/D which I have my films & music stored on,and it plays them no bother.Even in SD,the picture is bang on as well & clear from all angles.
It's easy to use & takes 5 minutes to set up.
