I think you should come clean and ask him about what you owe him. If you can put his debt on the back burner (ie he doesn't NEED the money back for day to day living), then it will help you concentrate on the debts you do need to pay back. So I would tell him that he is not your only creditor.

BUT I wouldn't do it the evening before/on the day of a funeral. Emotions may already be running pretty high and talking about this then, might not be the best time.

Ref OH and his stuff. Give him a week to move it/sort it out, tell him that if it is not sorted in a week, it is going on freecycle/ebay/ local tip/ garden. And then stick to it. Sorry love but you give too easy a ride some times. And if it is making your child sad, then you have to stand firm, and get him to sort this. ESPECIALLY if he is not working many hours during December.

Ah now, Hypno and Chev have put it well :)

Good idea about OH's stuff too - a week and then it's gone - def worth a try?

Evening seax..sorry about your troubles the last few days...it will do no harm to be truthful to your father as at the end of the day you'll then know whether to prioritise the debt..he's your father and loves you...we all make mistakes and I would tell him before going to the funeral and he's got time to think about it/calm down...good luck..

    Hi Sea

All fine here thanks - but a busy week. I've just cancelled my trip to Somerset on Weds for a mixture of reasons. I hadn't got round to booking tickets so I think fate didn't mean me to go.

DD3 has been taken ill, she seems to have the same bug as her brother, who has been off school over a week and is still far from well.

How are you? I'll have a hunt for your thread.

Hi Seax, I tried to post last night but the site was so slow it wouldn't respond!

Hope DD3 is better soon, and that you don't come down with the same bug yourself x

I'm having a moment of feeling proud of myself, which is a rare event so indulge me while I pat myself on the back.

I've just paid off my Sainsbury's CC (I cleared it last week but interest was added on 1 Dec so I've now finally cleared it).

On looking through the file I was amazed to find I only got this card in Nov 06 - it feels like so much longer than a year.

Opening that account was the beginning of dealing with my debts. Deciding to get a life of balance card rather than moving balances every six months was a step in the right direction, and soon after I opened an A&L current account and moved my overdraft from 18% to 0% and since then things have mainly gone in the right direction.

It's good to look back and see how much better things are than just a year ago.
