I've just been up to the post office to talk about the work they offered, and I start in my Rita role on Tuesday!

They are so desperate to have some help, and someone they can trust, that they are willing to be really flexible and fit around my other commitments. So I will be working usually 3 mornings a week, earning £6/hour, paid cash, which will cover train fares and dinner money so I shouldn't need to touch my bank accounts very often.

I know it's crazy when I can earn a much higher hourly rate, but I like the thought of doing something different, and with luck serving in the shop will satisfy my need for human contact so I won't need to spend hours on the internet when I get home.

Aaaawww, Seaxwyn! We'll miss you if you aren't here!

Seriously though, very well done on opting to try for the job and for getting it:beer: . You say they are 'desperate' but I doubt they'd have taken on just anybody so you obviously were an answer to their prayers.

I know exactly what you mean about doing something different for a change, it's all too easy to get sidetracked and frustrated when 'working' at home all the time:eek: .

    Have a lovely weekend

    Hi Imp,

I'm just lucky in that they are both desperate and very fussy! They want someone they can trust, which means someone they already know. Normally if they need cover they call in their daughter or a parent - so they must think of me almost as family. I'm flattered!

Can't wait to tell OH... he will be astonished!

Hi seaxwyn, just had a wee catchy uppy (i know i know i'm meant to be doing housework!) and i have to say that is fab news re the 34k. what a fantastic father and very nice of him to be so supportive. It is lovely that you got to bond in that time together, don't leave it too long before you are pushng for another weekend together, even if just at home.
I know what you mean re OH's and housework, I have a box marked "soap" around her esomewhere but best i leave it hidden!

Also understand how you feel re needing to get out of the house and that job will really help both financially and physically, sometimes being in doors drives me scatty, but don't stay away from us here too often!!

Big hugs and take care of yourself.

I did thanks, though it took three times longer than it needed to what with all my internet faffing.

But I then blew it by taking DD and DS out for a completely unplanned lunch. We had vouchers for free drinks at a local farm shop so I took them for a treat. But we were so famished when we got there I ended up buying a slap-up lunch and treating them both to go on the 'Santa train' (a tractor trailer round the plant sales area). The whole outing cost over £30!

Oh well, it's hard to completely avoid spending at this time of year and the kids are used to going without many things that other children have as a matter of course.

Something nice happened today. My godfather (whose wife's funeral we attended this week) has offered me a piece of her jewellery as a keepsake. I surprised myself by not even thinking of selling it. I like the thought of a connection with her and am touched that he offered it.

sometimes though hon, the money is worth it. And a rare and fab day with the children is one such occasion. That is lovely re the jewellery and will give you a permanent reminder of your relative. Great news. xxx
