Hi sea
Thanks for the message. Yes I'm mostly managing to be civil, life is too short etc.
And I've managed to tidy my desk too, which has cheered me up. Now I'm making a cake with DD3 and hope to go for an autumnal walk this afternoon. So generally feeling good apart from money woes.
On the money front though, I am bidding for a dining table on ebay. We have been eating off a pasting table which is none too sturdy and I'm afraid of us all getting soup in our laps - and I think we should take pride in this house since it costs us so much.
And OH's grown-up daughter has sent a couple of texts hinting at the fact she might be engaged. Aaargh! Of course I hope she is very happy but the prospect of a wedding is scary. I daren't imagine how much we may need to chip in until the news is confirmed.
How are you sea? Hope you're having a nice weekend with the children.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
What a lovely day you have planned!
An autumnal walk sounds lovely - think I might steal that idea and then we can come back and I'll hand the kids paper and glue and leave them to it with all the leaves etc!
I'm ok - still trying to get over feeling exhausted - need to go to bed earlier!
With regards to the OH's dd - not meaning to sound awful, but just refuse to contribute - you can't and OH seems to be incapable of organising his finances to be able to - I didn't expect either of our parents to contribute anything to our wedding. Will this cause problems in the family? How aout OH's dds mum - can she contribute if it's needed?

I don't think OH's DD will expect much to be honest - she knows her dad is stony broke. Her mother is very comfortably off - married to a rich businessman who I am sure would pay up if required. But OH's pride and paternal feelings may well make him want to contribute. Oh well - we may be reading too much into two texts - he's seeing her on Friday so we'll know the worst then.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

I hope that you are having a better day Seax. If you have seen my other thread you will see we have had the letter from the insurers. They are saying they won't pay, but 'as a goodwill gesture without prejudice' they will finish the work our side of the fence. So even though we aren't covered they are going to finish the work? erm huh?
. But that doesn't sort out next door. So heaven knows what we are going to do. It sort of feels to me that they should have never said we were covered and now are trying to get out of finishing the work

Hi Chev
Yes I did see your thread and posted commiserations there. That's a terrible thing to happen and I feel sure you have a good case to argue they should pay. But a legal fight is a horrible prospect. Have you got a plan of action?
DSD wedding - bound to be stressful in some ways but I'd look forward to it too. Trying not to let my imagination run away with me until we know one way or the other.
The table I was bidding on went way over my limit. Oh well.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

I may just go to Ikea... but I had set my heart on a table with rounded ends and Ikea catalogue seems to have none.
This is the one I wanted: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280167551323&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching

No point buying one you're not happy with, you'll just end up spending another £150 in a years time to replace it.
Best to wait and buy once and buy the one you like, even if it means spending more.0
