I'm not very happy today.
As I expected, OH failed to do whatever was needed and won't be paid anything until 25 November.
I get some sour satisfaction from saying 'I told you so' but I'm really very upset. I did keep asking him if he was sure he'd done all the necessary paperwork to ensure he got paid and he kept giving unsatisfactory answers. He thought the fact that he turned up in the classroom would somehow magically trigger the computers to send the order to the bank.
I had hoped that I could leave the bills to him this month and pay off my Sainsbury's credit card. Instead I will have to eke out my money to pay everything once again, and sustain myself with the hope that some money will come my way when he does get paid (though it never does).
DD2 has just dragged me out to Sainsbury's to buy pumpkins and large quantities of sweets for the halloween orgy they are planning tomorrow. I am not in the mood. I put two huge bags of Sainsbury's basics sweets in my basket and she still kept twitching, as this was clearly not enough so we have bought enough for a small sweetshop. I should be glad they have at least made their own costumes and pinatas, it could be a lot worse, but I have come over all bah humbug.
DSkeeps getting into fights at school. I don't think he's entirely the victim or the perpetrator, and I know it's normal for little boys to fight, but I feel upset and guilty that he is basically quite neglected. I never have his friends round to play so I'm not really in a position to judge if there is a problem or not. His friends' mums seem to know more about him than I do in some ways and that feels all wrong.
I could write a long list of other woes but that is quite enough.
There is no danger of me getting under 35k this month anyway.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
OH hon. I'm so sorry to read that things are getting to you. I can completely understnad how angry you must feel towards your OH about the money - can you not demand some of the money when he does get paid? It's simply just not fair.
Big big hugs

Hi Seax...so sorry to hear that your DH has done it again!!!...what are you going to do with him..and sorry to hear about your sons antics...maybe a sit down with him and a little chat with him may get to the bottom of it..you are still on target to pay it off by christmas but I can understand your frustration ...he'll have 2 months wages in november and I seriously hope he hands some money over to you as it's unfair that you have to pay everything...I'm sending you a big hug as you sound very down at the moment...take care xx0

Can't say i blame you for being a tad humbugish, it is so hard fighting alone and i completely sympathise with you.
maybe DH has some things on his mind that are manifesting themselves as this behaviour, maybe a gentle conversation during a join activity may help?
Sending a big, non germy hug your way to help .

Thanks so much for your kind words you two (the thanks button is not working).
It really is consoling to have such nice, understanding friends on MSE.
Too right I will make him give me some money on 25 November.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
I think that this is a carp month for every one. I am really sorry that your worries about your OH were well founded. I would be demanding money next month, not letting it slide. Still if he does ok, I hope he gets some more work for the spring term.
Keep your fingers crossed all of you though, cos whilst the site was down, we found out that the insurers may not pay for the remediation work ref the oil tank leaking. I am devastated. We are talking 10's of thousands of pounds if they don't pay up. I also have a 4ft x 4ft x 3ft deep hole where my path is supposed to be, and no way of getting to my calor gas bottles, when they run out.
We are just waiting on the letter now, so think good vibes people!

Morning Seax, I was not on MSe last night so missed your rant. I hope that things seem brighter this morning. I really feel for you with the juggling work/kids etc stuff - this is how our whole life has been too. Remember though that you are working to provide them with the things they need in life - basics like a roof over their head and food in their bellies, as well as the extras like halloween sweets! So you are not exactly being selfish in your working, or anything, you are just working bloomin hard to be a good wife, mother and a million and one other people too.,
Ok, I am rambling now, but I think you get my drift. Big hugs x
Positive vibes to chev too - fingers crossed xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Chev that is terrible news :eek::eek::eek::eek: How can they not pay? Paying up after unforeseen disasters is surely what insurance is for. I really hope you can persuade them without too much stress.
Thanks both for your kind words - and you too pania
I do feel a bit better today. The £50 from Topcashback arrived in my bank for one thing - thanks SS! It's the end of the month so I can write some invoices. And whilst I am still annoyed at OH, I also feel deeply grateful that I get enough work to manage to meet the outgoings - I know a lot of people struggle more so I shouldn't whinge as much as I do.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
You have every right to whinge....whenever you do we are all here...you know that...glad to see you got your money from topcashback..it all helps
Chev if they don't pay get in touch with the insurance ombudsman they will have to sort it..as the insurance people sent the contractors to you..they obviously employed them...so you didn't have a chance to get your own prices and insurance is insurance so whats their problem!!!
Sorry about that SEAx....hijacking your thread0 -
Hey Seaxwyn - how you doing? Managed to be civil to OH?
Hope all is ok
