    Hi Seaxwyn!!

I am glad that the book is helping a little, but you do sound as though you have rather a lot on your plate right now. I hope that OH manages to sort his money out this month and that pay goes in the right place at the right time!

And as for paying of £10,000 this year - I have to say, it is an EXCELLENT amount to have paid off......not biased, at all!!

Well done Chev!!!! What an achievement. I hope you feel very proud and also very de-stressed now you don't have to worry about that any more.

Is your move to NZ getting close now?

OH is a 'sessional lecturer' and they are only booked a term at a time. However I think it almost certain they will keep him for the rest of the year. He seems to have made himself a key part of the team, he has already been asked to teach on other courses and cover for someone who was off sick. They can't give him a job as they are limited to three full-time staff per course, I think.

Thanks for the advice on RM, I will get him to follow that up.

I haven't done any more about my sister's offer/request yet. I need to talk to her properly as I think she may have a misleading idea about what I actually do. I couldn't share my current work with her as it is dependent on specialist knowledge and contacts, but we could certainly pitch for work together. She has to give 3 months notice at her current job anyway.

I do want to get more businesslike about my work, and I've had two other serious offers to team up, so I need to talk to all three and see which, if any, are worth following up.

It's quite exciting to think of changing the way I work. I've been muddling along on my own for years now, but these other people all see me as hot property so I should look at myself that way and define what i really want to do most rather than just doing whatever comes along.

But changing anything requires getting organised, which I have successfully put off doing for 40-odd years, so I need to turn things around there before making commitments to people I would only end up disappointing

    Hi Seax
Yes I am sort of relieved. But angry with myself too, because I left it all to the last minute to sort out. Luckily presentation is only a couple or mark, and I think that I did ok in 2 out of the 4 areas, so hopefully I will get a pass if nothing else.

I went to an NZ expo this weekend, and I went along mainly to support OH. But I also looked at a couple of companies that might employ me, and they seemed interested even though I was only after an entry level position (one that a recent graduate ie 21 would normally be after). So at least that means that when we finally get out there I will have some work too.

I am trying to declutter on ebay at the moment, but a lot of things are not shifting and I don't really know why. Likewise Amazon had 6 books on there and not a bite! I think I will just reduce the price so that I can get rid of them - they were pennies to buy anyway.

The thing with teaming up with someone else, is not just the work, but also would you have to get an office or something (ie more expense?). At least you know now that working in this particular office (with the moaning minny) is not for you, and you could politely tell them you won't be continuing in January? If this winger is getting you down, then I would imagine it is effecting your productivity in your self employed job.

And yes I know what you mean about being organised. Everything seems to take so much longer than it should. But at least I am not whiling away my time, playing for points on jackpotjoy anymore. My real win (won some real money a bit a go) cured me of that good and proper.

So off to sort out lunch for DS2 and then I will get on with some listing.....honest!

Steady on, ladies! I'm still a long way from paying off 10k this year, unlike some others I could mention.

And I haven't saved anything for tax so I have really accumulated a fair bit of debt too. But I'm focussed on getting rid of the overdraft before saving, so am not thinking about the tax just yet.

Hi chev, we posted at the same time

Great news that you should be able to get a job easily when you get to NZ.

If I team up with any of the people offering it wouldnt involve getting an office as all live some way from me. I do sometimes consider renting a desk in a shared office, to separate work from home and be in a more work-oriented environment. But I've always decided against partly because it suits me being close to home to fetch kids etc, and also as i'm too disorganised to consider how I'd manage it. Everything I need is on my computer here...

Maybe when I've worked through Hypno's book I'll be able to make better decisions.

Well done for kicking your jackpotjoy habit. Online things can be such a huge timewaster.

I think I am going to have to go back to the timer method ref getting things done! That way at least I have an audible cue that some time has past, otherwise the whole day seems to slip away doing daily clicks, coming on here etc etc!

Thank goodness we've got to the end of another week.

And I've finished a job earlier than I thought so I'm going to celebrate by doing an hour's housework before baking a budget fish pie for tea.

I've had a hectic hardworking week (definitely five whole billable days) but in the background have been mulling over ideas gleaned from the 'Get Organised' book Hypno recommended. I've only managed to read one chapter but it has planted some seeds.

Today I took a teeny step towards being more professional. I was offered some work, it's stuff I'd like to do but would be tricky to fit in. They offered £3k for 20 days work. Instead of just saying yes, I said I'd need £200/day, or £4k for the job, and to delay the start date. They haven't come back to me yet but whether or not they agree, I feel very good that I stated my terms and didn't just take what was offered.

Well done!! Yes you're worth it. We women do tend to under value/ undersell ourselves so it's important to believe in ourselves.
