  • I really relate to you not having been able to do much with the kids over half term.

I feel like that! I've been working pretty hard this week and the most exciting thing the kids have done so far is go to Tesco with me, and a quick trip to the shops today!

However, on the plus side they don't seem to mind, and seem pretty happy and contented! We have been watching episodes of Heroes every night on the computer and they have been really looking forward to that.

At least you are in the same house as them most of the time.

I hope your OH's money comes soon. At least it will come EVENTUALLY, although I know you would rather have it now. He may get double money in time for christmas shopping!!!

Hi all and thanks for your kind words, that's very cheering.

Definitely OH is very very frustrating in lots of ways. He really has a mental block in the area of money and admin, however he does have his good points and is working very hard now.

I will make him ring the payroll office at the college today and as you say HHoD the money will come some time, so it's not a total disaster. He is also owed some money for some freelance work he did in August (yes he mucked up the invoicing there as well) so it's nice to know there are a couple of largish sums on their way eventually.

I've just added up bills we have to pay over the next couple of weeks, and they come to £780 not including the mortgage, loans and household bills. So its lucky that we have both been working hard.

HHoD its good to know your kids are contented, mine are too really. The younger ones have spent two days at my mum's which they always enjoy. The older ones look after themselves anyway and have been hanging out with friends. Today I'll do something half-termish, perhaps go and check out the new playground in a nearby park which was built with huge amounts of lottery money.

Another annoyance this month has been the effects of the postal strike. Two ebay parcels and three Amazon books have all disappeared - their total worth was over £100 so I really don't want to refund all the buyers. I have been writing polite emails asking them to be calm. And two cheques that were posted to me on 5 October have not arrived. I've arranged with the client that if they are not here by Monday they will make out new ones for me to collect from their office.

I'm now going to do a couple of hours work before picking up the children.

Forgot to say yes we do collect Nectar points but I use them in Sainsbury's Bill.

I also got £18.58 cashback this month for doing my food shopping on my Abbey CC - don't worry it will be paid off in full (it's an unused account I'm keeping open in the hope of a good balance transfer offer when my Egg 0% deal ends). Abbey are giving 5% cashback on supermarket spending up til Christmas in case that's an option for anyone else.

:) You're fully on the go today :) I think you are being very calm about the OH and wage - well done, I know I wouldn't be so!

How irritating about the parcels - soooo frustrating. I received something sent on tuesday by first class post just before, and I thought the backlog had been cleared, but obviously not. Have you asked them to check at their local parcel office? Might be worth them checking there to see that it isn't waiting?

Hope you have a good day

Morning Seax, I am sorry that things are not running smoothly but good news that work is coming in and that you are able to concentrate on getting lots of billable hours in.

I hope that the Uni money goes in - ours is officially due on the last Friday of the month, but depending on which bank you are with it can go in any time from Wednesday 00.01am to Friday (mine goes in on Thursday morning) so perhaps this is what has happened? I hope you don't have to wait to long for that, or for the missing cheques and ebay stuf to be sorted out - you have got a lot on your plate at the moment so look after yourself too.

Enjoy your trip to the park - will you go on the monkey bars??

    HI Hypno

I don't know about the monkey bars but I'll definitely have a go on the zip wire! We have been watching the playground take shape and it looks fab.

You've made me a little bit more optimistic about OH's money, perhaps we don't have to wait a whole month after all.

Kids are back now and very happy having had a lovely visit to my mum's - I have missed them. I must finish off my work so we can go to the park. They are keen to go on the climbing wall.

Sounds like a fab park you have - can I come over, I quite fancy a go on the zip wire and the climbing wall! I'll bring a picnic!

Come on over! It really is fab! It has (I'm copying from the press release): A wooden Galleon stranded on a bed of sand, a water play area with water pumps and jets, an ariel slide, two metre high climbing wall and plenty of swings

shivering a bit at the thought of the water play area!

Kids are now busy painting pinatas that they made earlier this week. DS has made me a lovely necklace with a glass chili pepper bead. They are so sweet and I have missed them so much I have just extravagantly booked DD3 onto a trampolining course - £42 for 7 weeks, I must get a grip!
