Not doing the olympic challenge. I do sell bits on Amazon and enter competitions but I struggle enough to get my 'real' work done - so feel that it doesn't make sense to give myself further distractions.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

Hi Seaxwyn, you must be shattered, I saw you still posting after 1am and again early this morning so you are burning the candle at both ends!
I hope today is a little brighter for you. Take a deep breath, stand up tall, and go girl!
My only paid work today is a mystery shop - hardly going to make me rich.......Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi hypno - I have been working really hard to finish a report. Finally did so at 1am this morning :jand have just checked it over and send it off.
It wouldnt have taken half so long if I didn't feel the need to check MSE every five minutes!
Now that's done I have nothing with an urgent deadline attached for a while so will be making sure to get my seven hours beauty sleep (can never manage the full eight try as I might).
enjoy your MS breakfast and catch you later - just off to London now, hope I can stay awake through my meeting

Thanks hypno
Day is going really well thanks. Had a great meeting and have a nice little job to do this afternoon which I'm positively looking forward to.
On both money and work fronts I seem to swing between extremes of despair and optimism - no calm middle ground.
have a good day yourself too.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Oh dear. OH just fired from the job he was doing - it would have been six weeks' work but apparently he "wasn't giving them what they wanted".
Something similar happened last week with another job that should have netted £900.
I'm worried that after a great six months, we are back to the same situation where he is mysteriously unemployable.
He's a hard worker and very talented but I think he's difficult to work with as he doesn't communicate well with his clients and is quite obstinate about doing things his way rather than their way.
It's come at a bad time as I have my £800 tax bill to pay this month. I have encouraged him to use the unexpected free time to do all sorts of MSE things like getting quotes for cheaper life insurance, and chasing up a mystery health insurance policy that he pays £8/month for despite repeated attempts to close.
Luckily I do have plenty of work and am procrastinating away (where are you Sea78? I need you!) so will take this as a wake-up call. Still time for four more billable hours today...Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Oh No!!!
But just think at least you have an action plan and getting him to reduce costs is a very good idea. Get him out job hunting again and I am sure he's not unemployable, people just haven't realised what they've got.

Then I'm going to pop to school to get another example form, come back and continue doing as much as I can!!Slowly, slowly....
What ruibbish news about OH - sorry to hear that. Hopefully he'll use the time productively.

Oh Seaxwyn, so sorry to read the news. Does he have anything else lined up soon, and is this going to cause you problems cash flow wise? I know you could use it as a prompt to get working yourself, but is he addressing the issues himself?

Hooray!! Just what I need, a companion. I'm trying to catch up on work for my least favourite client today and it's not been going well. But 20 minute bursts I can do. PM me when you're ready for the first catch-up.
Thanks for nice messages everyone. There is plenty to fill his time - DFW things but also about the house and garden, mending bikes etc etc... I will make sure he is not idle! One really important thing is getting the art college to confirm the details of next term's engagement.
Cashflow wise I think we will be OK as we should have enough coming in to cover this month.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
