    Hello folks

I feel exhausted and demoralised today, to be honest.

I am still struggling to finish a job that I've been trying to do every evening and early morning for weeks. It should be easy, I just have no energy for it.

I'm still feeling bad after receiving an unexpected tax bill yesterday. You'd think after ten years of self-employment I'd be used to this twice yearly event but it always comes as a blow. Hypno, I hope you have a jam jar for tax savings?

But on the upside, OH has paid the Council Tax (I think), given the kids some pocket money and gave me a pound when I asked for 34p for a stamp (whilst expressing derision at my penny-pinching ways, doesn't he know that if you "look after the pennies, the pounds look after themselves"?)

Oh and I paid £55 off my credit card to take it safely under £1,000, even when interest is added. It feels good having one of my debts in three figures!

Won't pay much more this month though as while I have lots of work, most of it I can't invoice for until the end of the month, so July will be tight.

AFter our chat yesterday about self-employment I want to focus on the positives, and there are many, but the fact is I manage my work life really badly and create lots of unnecessary stress for myself.

So that's my moan for the day. Hypno yours sounds much more positive - what a relief that Barclays are going to make an offer (drat! more dastardly plans needed). Sea, I am so pleased your OH is going for counselling. Do you think that is his admission that he was in the wrong last night?

Massive hugs hon - I can imagine the tax bill has done nothing to boost you. Is there any way you can sort it for next time, so that it is not a horrid shock? Could you start the olympic challenge specifically for the next tax bill (would end about the right time I'm guessing?).

You have been a complete inspiration and support and will continue to be so - FANTASTIC about getting your CC bill down into 3 figures. Take as much advantage as you can from OH while he's feeling flush :)

It sounds like we are both rather bad at the old procrastination business - perhaps we should egg each other on to do specific things sometimes and then see who can do it? We'd both be winners that way! (you know my issues about my threshold form!!).

Oh, and yes, I guess it is a slight admission from him. I too have been making the effort to listen completely when he's talked to me tonight and respond appropriately etc! Need to make the effort of course.

    HI Sea

I always resolve to save money for tax and never ever do. Every time I get paid, the money is needed in its entirety. Well that's not true, I did make a massive overpayment last month when perhaps I should have kept some back.

However it's not totally grim as I should be able to pay it on my interest-free overdraft so the situation is much better than previous years when I have had to take out loans or ask my sister to pay.

Next year's tax bills will be massive so I do need to save. My plan (if that word isn't too grand for a hazy idea) is to pay off my Sainsbury's CC and overdraft and then think about saving for tax.

I'm definitely up for a procrastination challenge. When would be a good time for you to tackle that form? If I was working too we could do it 'virtually' together - maybe send hourly progress checks and encouraging messages.

Well done for making the effort with OH. Hope he makes a BIG effort to listen and respond appropriately too!

    ooh definitely! :)

I'm working half day tomorrow and all day Thursday, but my mum is here on friday and I could get her to mind the kids so that I can tackle the form somewhat - is that a good day. I'll be attempting it this weekend too whenever I can! I've realised I have to have a go - if I'm not successful, then so be it. I can always try again but I'd be a fool not to go for it.

Are you doing the olympic challenge? Might be worth it just to start saving for the tax and ensure you've got something started?
