No marvels I'm afraid but a lot of work to plough through.

I'm also going to send off my entry to a competition I found in the Sainsbury's Magazine - write about "what matters to you" in 50 words to win £1,000. Suggestions welcome! I'll gladly PM you the details if you want to enter too - you don't need a form or any proof of purchase.

Oh and I have to book my daughters into a local ceramic-painting place for their birthday treat. They insist that's what they want though I find those places such a rip off. Oh well, I'm reassured they chose something so babyish really.

I know what you mean about being reassured with DDs - some of the 13 year olds I see at the school are 13 going on 17 in many ways! There is plenty of time for yours and mine to be anything other than just 13!!

If you could PM me the details of that comp I will have a go, although I am not good at condensing things into 50 words. Now, if it had said "different things matter to different people - discuss" I could have done reasonably well!!

I have no clients booked in today as I was supposed to be going to the Norfolk Show, so will use it to do other constructive stuff, like try and get new clients in! I hope you have a profitable day, one way or another.

Hi Hypno, I'll PM you the comp details now - and anyone else who wants them. It's always worth entering these competitions where you have to make a bit of effort as I'm sure most people don't get round to it. There are 5 prizes to be won so let's hope a deserving DFW or two gets lucky.

My DDs veer between teenagers and children on a daily basis! Just checked the website of the ceramic place and parties are £14 a head for a minimum of ten people. No way! I'm going to try and book for five with no mention of the P-word.

Hope your day goes well and you have some money-making brainwaves.

  • Good morning Seaxwyn

I'm pleased to see that your procrastination seems to on the way to being defeated. `Keep doing those billable jobs and you will beat the challenge. I am feeling somewhat releived as Lloyds finally stopped adding interest and charges but we will see how long it lasts.

I have been working on accounts since about 5.15 am (yes, it does exist). I had minor surgery on my foot last week and sleeping seems a bit elusive so trying to put the time to good use. I did billable work yesterday and will do more later today but the accounts are behind as I was too stressed to keep them up to date and I must catch them up unbillable or not.

OH is away for three days on a specialist course to help with some work he has in hand. He finally got paid for some work which has been 'in process' for several months so that feels good. I want to see the back of some of the extra bits of furniture in the house - not mine - his clients.

Bad news from my side is that one large project I have been doing for the past four or five years has just evaporated as the company has decided not to typeset the job in future but just put it on the web in Word format. This is a fair-sized loss of billable work. The good side is that it comes at the end of the year so I've had warning and need to look for another client to replace it. That isn't so easy but I'm starting to work on it.

OH has taken the debt seriously finally and seems to be looking for other work around his furniture restoration. I just worry that it will scupper the new business before that has a chance and we'll end up in the hole further. Oh well, we'll see.

I will love you and leave you to get on with money-making while I return to the necessary evil of entering accounts.

    Good morning lbt

I'm so glad to hear your good news - about Lloyds and your OH being paid :j

Sorry to hear about the lost work though, I do hope you find something good to replace it. Self-employment can be very scary but there are lots of potential clients out there.

Hope your foot is recovering well and good luck with getting those accounts done. I need to finish mine too.

I didn't go to the carboot sale - it's tipping it down. So I wasted the £5 but at least it goes to charity.

Anyway Imy carboot stock is sorted and ready to go and my mum has promised a clear-out too so I will do one in the school hols. And I'll use this morning to have a blitz on the house instead.

Just worked out that my new xmas target (getting rid of CC2 and OD) will mean paying £6290 by Xmas, or £1258 per month. A tough challenge but I don't want to prove a wimp so here goes.

OH picked up another job last week which is great news. Him earning is the difference between solvency and going down the pan.

Morning! Shame about the car boot but at least you are prepared for the next one.

Good news about OH job - as you say, the difference between solvency or going down the pan. And the difference between worrying yourself silly, and managing to sleep at night!

Re the challenge - you a wimp? Not in my lifetime. You will not shy away from these challenges, however tough they may be. Do you hear me!! Good luck with it, I have no doubt that you will get there. Now......if only those bank charges would come through.....:rotfl:

1st July update - six months since I started this diary.

June was a good month with a whopping £2563.83 spent on debt repayments.

OH has just picked up a job for the next six weeks. This month he paid the gas and phone bills, bought all the food, and paid a plumber for our emergency leak.

I can't tell you how good this feels when for so long I have paid for everything. I now feel confident I can devote more of my own earnings to paying debts.

I need to do a mini SOA just for myself. But before that I need to finish a piece of work so that I can make an assault on the huge pile I've got for next week.

Also I need to do my tax return and get the new figures to the child tax credit people. I feel sure my tax credits should be cut and I don't want to get in the situation where I owe them money again.

As well as the various DFW challenges I am doing a challenge with a friend to enter short story competitions. The cash prizes are motivating but really I want to have something creative to think about, to free my brain from thinking about money all the time. If anyone wants to join in, get in touch.

Morning! What a fab update :T

Just look back to those posts in the first few weeks, when everything was up in the air and OH not being any help, and see just how far things have come since then.

    Happy new month!!
