In the cold light of day, I realise I can't afford to go on the Welsh trip. Even tho accomm and some meals are included, I would have to pay for trainfare, lunches, drinks, and swimiing in the spa pool. Not to mention leg waxing. As my spreadsheet for this month shows £790 in and £2354 out, I can't justify this. So I've decided to decline the invitation, stay at home, and take the children swimming at the leisure centre as a treat. Who needs infinity pools?

  • Hi Sea,

When you look at things in the cold light of day it is obvious you've made the right decision. Hope the kids enjoy their treat x

The purse didn't materialise and I have just cancelled the first card. Annoyingly we had an offer from Goldfish that if we spent £100 in June, we'd get £10 cashback. So we were merrily spending and had got up to £70. Now they say the new card could take ten days to come - so we might not be able to hit the target!

    Oh well.

Hiya. I haven't found my purse, I'm going to have one final hunt this weekend then cancel all the cards.

Otherwise... I'm feeling brighter than I have been. I finished that piece of work I kept whining about. I had a good day on Friday, worked at a client's office and realised how much I need to be around people. I'd been thinking all week about the job vs. freelance dilemma and feel sure that staying freelance is still the best option for me, but I need to address the problem areas. So I'm going to look into renting a desk at my favourite client's office. And other things - but that's an idea that is growing on me.

I've started reading 'Live the Life You Love', which Steel recommended, and whilst I have an inbuilt resistance to this type of book, I am finding it really helpful. I really recommend it!

I had a good night out with a friend last night. We had a pizza at a restaurant with a panoramic view of the Tower of London, Tower Bridge etc, it was light til ten and just felt brilliant to be there.

It's the solstice today, I like to mark these solar milestones (and was on the point of piling the kids into the car and heading for Stonehenge) and I certainly feel calm and optimistic at the moment. I don't really have enough work to pay the bills at the moment. Well far from it actually. But I know I have the luck and the talent to get work in, and I'll get past this point.

And on a more mundane level... OH has got four and a half hours driving work next week. For the minimum wage - but he enjoys it and who knows, it might lead to something more.

It sounds as though you have got your head in the right place. The prospect of renting a desk could be just what you need.....certainly sounds like the best of both worlds!

    :hello:

You sound so much more positive. I'm sure you will work out what you need to do that works right for you. Love the sound of that restaurant view as well.....
