Age gaps in relationships...

My friend's parents got together when she was 40 and he was 70. My parents are 12 years apart and my grandparents are 10 years apart.0

My bf is a year older than my DD's bf, who is 13 years older than my DD:D:DI'm 5.5 years older than him, and we get on fine.I tried dating fossils and it was boooooooooooooring;):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Sorry, I find this thread shocking....
Quite a few posters assume - older man, younger girl, she is after money!!!!!
Well, I have OH 18 yrs older then me and I wish he had lot of money!!!:-))))))) I was 21 when we got together too.
8yrs later we are still together. I am also more mature then him and my own earning now are already nearly as much as he had when we met... within few years in fact I should match his now. I have my own career and he has never thrown money at me. They was never any need to to be honest, most of the time I have more then him after he paid his debt bills:-))
I like older men because they treat women better. The young idiots who sit down and play computer games all night, before throwing a tantrum about washing up, showing off in front of their mates and flirt with girls in bars is just not my scene. Have been there, done that, not interested in man under 30 full stop!!
Then the more shocking bit - the 33 yr old man in this case is not even the biological father and the OP was pregnant at 17 (unmarried)... but think age gap of 12 years might be a problem...
New age O.K. for some things but not for others I see..
 1. I did not suggest money was anything to do with it.
 2. No he's not the biological father, what is the relevance?
 3. Yes I was 17 when I had my eldest, 16 when pregnant and yes unmarried (relevance of this?) I was also never married to the ex I am discussing.
 4. I don't think an age gap of 12 years is a problem at all, what I am asking others opinions of is when one of the couple is only 21, what do they think about it.
I am genuinely asking what points you are making as I don't think it is clear. Thank you in advanceIf you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in 0 0

no its none of your business your right. If he was with an older woman you wouldnt like that either. Does the ex ever agree with the choice their ex made.
There is nothing wrong with an age gap relationship. I am in one and i can honestly say its the best relationship ive ever had. Its also the longest relationship I have ever had. People dont just fall in love with people their own age and if they do it dosent always last.
The girlfriend before was I think about a year older than him, not a problem to me, I actually don't have a problem with this one either, I'm just not sure. As I said, it's his business though, I was just wondering what others thought. If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in 0 0

My dad was 31 when he met my mother who was 21 at the time.
They were ecstatically happy together until my mum died at the age of 57 in her sleep without warning.
My dad lived another 19 years after her death but never got over it.
There are a few stories of true love being posted on here, I hope I find the same one day! I met my OH when I was 21.....and he was 48! It's sometimes been a bumpy ride but he's still the person I want to talk most with in the world - we recently went on two weeks holiday and talked most of the time. I keep teasing him by saying 'shouldn't we have run out of things to say to each other' and he often comments on other couples who can't converse in restaurants.
26 years later, we are still going strong.¿Alguien ha visto a mi nave espacial?
Biting is excellent. It's like kissing, only there's a winner.0

Got to admit I thought you were a similar age to me, your photo makes you look very youthful. I'm 26!
I have a big big age gap with my OH, he is older, and the only real problem we have with it is that my mum finds it hard to cope with
Oh he had no money either! We still don't :rotfl:

I agree with your comment in bold.
I do not understand why you are "uneasy" - there is almost a dangerous untertone to this comment although both people are adults ?
If your oldest child is "18 this year" - i.e. he is 17, then as his dad is 33 then if my maths are correct then he must have been 16 when he became a father.
It may be that he missed out on the carefree teenage years with clubbing etc. and that he has found a partner with these interests and that they are having a good time ?
Are you just not happy that your ex may be having a good time ?
Dangerous undertone? I don't understand, I am just explaining my thoughts, 'uneasy' was being honest. No point me asking what others think if I can't be honest myself.
The ex has been having a good time for a long time so it's nothing new. As I said, we get on ok most of the time, and I am having a good time myself so there is no bitterness, if I have a date I will ask him to have the youngest and say that's what it's for and likewise he tells me he can't have him such a night because he has a date.If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in 0 0

To respond to the original question, I don't see a problem with a 21 year old going out with a 33 year old - genders either way around. Some 21 year olds have old heads on their shoulders and some people never grow up (me!); there are some lovely stories on this thread of much wider age gaps (with the younger partner being in their early 20s) working out.Whatever0
