Hello all - hope everyone is having a peaceful night
Thanks for your replies to my post - I feel much better now about having gone back to work. I don't know anybody else who has a baby - I only made it to one antenatal class before I went into labour, so didn't get to meet any other mums-to-be. My so-called "best friend" is still sticking her nose in the air because I'm not staying at home with William, but I'm taking no notice!
At the moment, William seems quite constipated - we haven't had a dirty nappy for 2 days. I tried giving him cooled boiled water on its own and then cooled boiled water with a little sugar in it, and this seemed to work at first but is having no effect now. He had his 5-in-1 on Tuesday and his BCG today, but doesn't seem at all poorly from them. Had a visit from the HV yesterday who just recommended giving cooled boiled water between feeds to ease his constipation, but he looks very disgusted when he realises there's no milk in the bottle!!HV thinks it might be down to the fact that he is a piggy child! Although he is maintaining well on the 75th percentile, he's having around 8fl oz 5/6 times a day. Even though he is only 9 weeks tomorrow, we are about to move him onto the 2nd stage milk. HV wants us to go to 17 weeks before we begin weaning, but I can't see him getting much past 12 weeks tbh.
Bailey, I've been using that johnson and johnson lavender bubble bath in William's bath and then rubbing the bedtime lotion into his feet, legs, arms and tummy and this seems to work really well (more or less sends me to sleep too!) Touch wood, at the moment, we are putting him down around 8-8:30 and he is sleeping until 5:30-6 ish. I don't expect it to last
off to beddy-byes now (yawn)

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better about things JayeBee. Alice is on the 75th centile too and it's a pain as babygrows don't really fit her properly now because she's in 9-12 months for the body length but a 9-12 month baby would have longer legs relative to their body so the legs are about 4" too long.0

Hi Guys
I'm still getting woken in the night, however on the plus side, Hayden went to sleep after feed at 7.30pm, woke for bottle at 10.30pm, straight back to sleep, woke for cuddle at 2pm ish and feed at 5.50am. Each time he did go straight back down and slept til 8.25am. Hasn't yet had feed since 5.50am, so he is definitely getting better. If we can break the 2am ish wake then we will be laughing.
Anyway poo nappy to change- better go.

I got woken at 3am last night by the monitor. Husband had put his phone on to charge and when it finished charging, it started interfering with the monitor so it made a buzzing sound. He's promised to charge his phone downstairs in future.0

Stilll having really bad nights, he wakes nearly every hour and yesterday i was up from 6am, last night he did his hourly wakes and then at 4am wouldn't go back. Finally got him to sleep at 6am, he was so tired. Now its 8am, he's still asleep and i'm unsure how to play it. Should I wake him and give him his bottle and try to get him back down for a nap around 10am? Or should I let him sleep and have our day totally thrown out of routine/meals/sleep etc? We are leaving this afternoon to go away for the weekend anyway, so he's going to be in a new place for a few days. Can't say i'm looking forward to it, but it was arranged whilst I was still pregnant with Jack and I didn't know the implications of a "break" (if you can call it that) with a baby!!
Just wondered if anyone is up and about please could they advise on what they would do?
Thanks.0 -
I'd probably make the most of the rest on the basis that the routine's probably going to be thrown out by going away anyway.
We've been having trouble since Monday with Alice not wanting to take her bedtime feed. We've still put her to bed at seven like normal (and she's gone happily) but the last two nights she's then woken at eight and needed to be fed then instead. It's beyond me why as on one of the days she's only had ten minutes at her mid afternoon feed so it's not like she's full from having loads earlier.Any suggestions?

Thanks Susan, but the problem was solved, he woke up shortly up after I posted. Bottle drained and now playing until a late brekkie.
I'm sorry i don't really know why Alice is doing that at bedtime, the only reason i can think of is sometimes they get it into their heads that they don't want something. Then you try again later and they've forgotten they didn't want it and happily take it. Don't konw now to get round it though. Maybe someone else can suggest something.0 -
Hi. Hope Alice doing better today. Hayden woke at 2 and 4. 2am for feed, 4am to be cuddled, got him back off quickly both times and had good sleep. Had put lavender in room and think that definitely helped!
Just found out that a friend is expecting twins next April- how exciting. She had lost baby earlier this year so fantastic news. Just hope all goes well with this pregnancy for her.
Anyway off to sort the washing out, motherly duty calls!WW Gold Member, trying to maintain !!!Hayden born July 07Tabitha born April 05Poppy born July 030 -
Alice fed fine last night but unfortunately I had a blocked duct so had her feeding for ages trying to get rid of it. It finally cleared at the first feed this morning which was a relief.0
