Claire_Jones wrote: »Hi I'm Claire and my little boy was born on 23rd August. We've named him Charlie Robert. He can be a little monster at times but I'm getting used to him being around!! I should have taken people seriously when the warned me how much time babies take up, just popping to the shops is a miltary operation and takes hours!
I'm breastfeeding him at the moment and he seems to be doing fine on my gold top although he's a sod for not brnging up wind
My hv advised that if wind was a problem to give ds a tiny bit of water after a feed. I was sceptical and didn't bother trying it straight away. But done it twice tonight and it worked a treat! It was great and he is snoring away quite happily now after a resounding burp!
Hope your little one arrives soon September baby! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

On Friday we ended up taking DS to gp as we couldn't keep his temp under control - GP said virus - his second tooth came through on Saturday and he is much better now...
I'm not convinced about the virus!The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
Charlotte had really bad wind this afternoon which I couldn't shift. The washer went into spin cycle, so I sat her on top of it, and the vibration jiggled all the wind out of her
After a week of enjoying different fruit purees, I tried her on a fruity baby breakfast cereal yesterday morning, and she's had pureed shepherds pie for tea tonight. She's really enjoying all the new tastes :cool:Here I go again on my own....0 -
Becles, Charlotte is doing really well with the weaning isn't she?! I was going to wait until 6 months with Natasha, but she is starting to get very interested in food now, so I don't know if we will be able to hold out that long. She's nearly 5 months now though - Ryan was eating all sorts by 5 months so it seems odd to me not to have weaned her yet. She's still sleeping through though, and not feeding excessively.
She's been really tearful today though, I think her stomach is off because she keeps going for a couple of days without a (*tmi alert*) poo, and then doing huge explosive ones, whereas she has normally gone every day (although she has always been quite explosive!). She seems uncomfortable in certain positions that put pressure on her tummy too. I think I will pop up to baby clinic this week and ask the HV about it.
Claire, your post about the burping really made me laugh - Natasha trumps really loudly, and it can be quite embarrassing (but funny) sometimes!
JS-other-half, glad your little one is feeling better, a couple of people on here have mentioned their babies having temperatures while cutting teeth.
Has anyone any experience of breastfeeding a baby with teeth? I'm a bit scared of Natasha getting hers, because she's quite 'bitey' anyway....ouch!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
i stopped bf kennedy when she cut her first tooth as she bit me and drew blood!! she was 7 months and got 2 teeth at the same time ouch!
any way she went into her new car seat today, at 11 months she is still about 2lb too light for it but the shoulder straps on the rearward facing one were getting tight. i'll have to get used to her being in the back of the car instead of next to me.
she was a little madam today, i was sat eating my tea and she sat nicking the sweetcorn off my plate!0 -

Alice hasn't got teeth yet but someone I know said that if they bit she just stopped feeding them and put them down for 5 minutes before continuing the feed so they learnt that if they bit then their feed was interrupted.0 -
Hello Everyone.
Was pointed in the direction of this thread a couple of days ago and have finally got time to post!In August this year our gorgeous little boy, William, was born. We are truly broke and even though William is only 8 weeks old, I've had to go back to work. I work in the family business so there is no problem at all with childcare as I get to take him with me. I work Monday - Friday in the business and then do 2 or 3 nights a week in the local pub. (working!!
) The problem is that I feel horrendously guilty about it. The plan had been to clear most of our debts before having a baby and when I went to see the doctor she said that women coming off the pill usually take around a year to fall pregnant, which would have been perfect. I fell pregnant within six weeks!! I would have liked nothing more than to be able to stay at home with him - I really worry that I'm not giving him as much time as I should be doing. My best friend has made it clear that she thinks I'm a terrible mother and I just feel awful about it all. Everytime I look at him I feel so guilty that I could just sit and cry.

Awww - don't get yourself upset Jayebee. I'm sure you're a fantastic mother and William is still getting to spend plenty of time with you at work during the day. I bet he still gets plenty of attention from you on weekends and after work too.
The 2-3 nights a week in the pub will do you good as well, as it's a time to have adult conversation, so you don't turn into someone who can only babble about baby stuff (like me). It'll be good for William to get special attention from his Dad or whoever looks after him while you are working.
Maternity pay was shorter when I had my now 8 year old son, and I ended up back at work for 20 hours a week when he was 15 weeks old. He survived just fine, and enjoyed the time with his Granny while I was out. It hasn't affected him in anyway at all. Here I go again on my own....0 -

I was going to wait until the 6 months, but she started crying to be up at the table with us, and was very interested in our plates. Then she started waking at 6am instead of sleeping through.
She's really enjoying her food, so I think it was the right time to start feeding her.
My husband was drinking beer yesterday and she was wanting a drink out of his can! I think she's a bit young for that yet thoughHere I go again on my own....0
