My turn for crap night with Isabel, she woke at half 11 and wouldn't resettle until 1ish. Consequently overslept this morning, only half an hour to get everyone breakfasted and ready for school. Made it on time though! Just! My stress levels have just about returned to normal now...
Right. Sick of her whipping them off in one swift movement, has anyone discovered any bibs that can't be removed?? They need to be big ones rather than the little milk type ones, large enough to cope with messy eaters! And no velcro fastenings as she has them totally sussed! I saw some pullover head type ones in boots, but they seemed a bit skimpy to cope with food.
Or any surefire way of removing tomato based stains from clothing?!! I've tried every stain remover, every tip on old style board, biological powder etc and those tommy stains never disappear completely :mad:0 -
Hi I'm Claire and my little boy was born on 23rd August. We've named him Charlie Robert. He can be a little monster at times but I'm getting used to him being around!! I should have taken people seriously when the warned me how much time babies take up, just popping to the shops is a miltary operation and takes hours!
I'm breastfeeding him at the moment and he seems to be doing fine on my gold top although he's a sod for not brnging up wind:heart2: Charlie born Aug 2007 :heart2: Reece born May 2009

Hi Claire
Breastfed babies tend to have less wind than bottlefed babies (or so I've read anyway) so they may not produce as many burps. I know Alex doesn't burp after every feed, and sometimes the weirdest positions make him burp, like holding him upright as if he's 'walking'.
I had the crappiest night ever last night.Alex was up every two hours - his nose is still stuffy so he doesn't take in an awful lot of milk at once. An absolute nightmare, if this goes on too much longer I'll end up as an extra in a zombie film, and I won't need any make-up! :rotfl:
Saline drops have been a bit useless, so I've gone for the breastmilk approach (a few drops are supposed to help clear his nose). While I was there, I put milk in his eyes as well for the stickiness, so my poor babe looks a bit strange covered in milk

In the latest Bounty book that I got it suggests tickling a baby's nose with cotton wool to make them sneeze might help clear the nose. Didn't work on Alice (she just smiled and went cross-eyed trying to look at it) but maybe it works for some?0

Hi Clare and Charlie! My baby was breastfed and she didn't burp after each feed either.
Dormouse - have you tried picking Alex's nose before a feed?! It sounds yukky, but when Charlotte had cold, I would poke the end of a tissue just inside her nose and pick out as much snot as I could without causing her discomfort. It helped her breathe a little better and she took more milk. Here I go again on my own....0 -

Welcome Claire and SeptemberBaby! Hope you find the forum useful.
Re hyper on Calpol - we use Ashtons and Parsons powders. They are v cheap :money: and available from Boots, Lloyds and other chemists. It's a homeopathic remedy which I know a lot of people swear by. Calpol turns Imogen into a space cadet but she seems fine on these powders and they definitely help the pain. It's just a sachet of powder which you put straight on the tongue. Like Nelson's teething granules if you've used those, only cheaper. :money: Bailey HTHMSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -

Hi Claire! Nice to see another 'graduate' from the Pregnancy Club thread!
My eldest really struggled with trapped wind, even though he was exclusively breastfed. My youngest baby boy (nearly 12 weeks old already!) also needs to bring up wind halfway between a feed and at the end. He always does exactly three really loud burps, so I know he hasn't finished until he's done three!
I find it easier to wind him in a sitting position on my lap. I put one hand gently on his waist and let him move slightly forward. This usually brings the wind up quite easily.0
