I sometimes share a bath with my son who is 10 weeks and he loves it, he kicks and splashes and smiles. I feel for your baby if he hates his bath, you must dread every evening. Maybe the above suggestion is a good one, if your in there too it might comfort him.
I really hope it gets better, poor little mite, shaking before he even gets in :-(0 -

Anyone any ideas on this as a problem. He is now 14 and1/2 weeks, and he still screams the house down every time i give him a bath. He has never slipped under, had shampoo in his eyes or anything traumatic. I thought it might be because he didn't like the baby bath, so i have now upgraded to a couple of inches of water in the main bath so he can lay on the bottom, but no improvement.I also bath him almost every night, which i've done since he was about 5 weeks old in an attempt to get him used to it. :rotfl: Will he do this until he's18??? Cos that is what it feels like. I daren't take him swimming until i sort this or i'll look like i abuse him.

hi, I had same problem with Katie, eventually she's got used to having baths and quite happily sits in bath and plays with her ducks. If you want to take him swimming, why not try it ?after all you will be in with him and being with mummy, he might not be so bad. The worst he can do is what he is doing now and you could always leave if he does. May be worth a go?:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11:smileyhea

Hi we only bathe Ruben twice a week but he loves it.( will be every night when he is big enough to share with his big brother) Have you tries a bucket ( same principle as the tummy tub but a lot cheaper) just make sure there are no sharp edges inside it some babies like this a lot better then a normal bath it is supposed to mimick being in the womb.

Hi michelle
I jump between this and the pregnancy site. Got a daughter of 17 months and will be having my second on 19 feb. Anyway i thought i'd suggest bathing with him. It helps if your partner is around to hand him to you while you are in the bath. I found that this helped my dd when she was younger. I think its something to do with the skin to skin contact. Hope this helps
Good luck

thanks everyone for the tips. I think i'll try getting in the bath with him over the weekend when DH is at home. Normally he is in too late through the week to do.
Poor little thing. He'll grow out of it eventually but it is tough at the moment.

we had a bit of progress today. I gave him a flannel to play with, and he was a bit distracted by that and me singing to him, and we actually had some smiles. :T
I'd also stuck a face mask on at the time, so it could have been the fact that he thought i looked stupid.
I'll try the flannel again tomorrow and see if it works again

the flannel seems to be working consistently. We've had a few nights now of less tears and slightly longer in the tub.
He also decided today that he liked being in his swing, and it sent him to sleep for about 40 minutes, which meant i could clean the kitchen in peace.
He's now only sleeping for two half hour stints in the day, and then being quite a grump because he's tired. I can't win them all.0 -

oh i know that one, mine is a little wotsit at sleeping well during the day. I'm lucky if I get 2 half hour stints out of him morning and afternoon. However today he really surprised me, he woke at 9.45am and was alseep again by 11.15am for 40 mins, then had an afterenoon nap of 20 mins and again by tea time of half hour. Now i am trying to wind the last 2 oz out of him and he's fallen asleep on the lounge floor..............up to his cot I think!!!!0
