. Any tips on how to get him to have a proper feed from the bottle. I've been expressing since he was 6 days old and offer him the bottle at least twice or 3 times a day but he just doesn't like it. He often squeezes his face up like i've given him something bitter. My daughter was happy to switch between breast and bottle and I haven't done anything differently this time round. Please help my nipples are really really sore and we have both got thrush  (been on antibodies).

    Thanks in advance

Can I ask what bottles you are using? Dr Brown's bottles seem to work well for breastfed babies- but they're not cheap - about £5 each.

Another (very expensive!) alternative is the Haberman feeder (around £18 each) - -I've seen them for sale in Mothercare World, or you can buy them online.

Are you both being treated for the thrush? http://www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/information/thrush.php is worth a read for the most up to date information on the best medications etc

    Good luck with it all.

I thought one was reallly sore but put it down to thrush, anyway now i got to take antibodies again which will mean getting thrush again! How great. I really feel like giving up breastfeeding today but ds will not take bottle. Someone suggested changing teats anyone got any ideas? i am currently using avent ones.

    Thanks js other half.
The breastfeeding page was really helpful. Am also looking into some different teats. I'm hoping i can change teats rather than buying new bottles as things are really tight at the mo.
Wanted to thank your post direct but there is no thanks button on your post

Thanks andycarmi. One question, Can you use tommee tippee closer to nature teats with avent/any wide neck bottle? i read on one site that they only fit closer to nature bottles.

That is correct they only fit their bottles. Boots had 2 bottles and 1st teats on offer last weekend just gone a pack for £5.00 instead off £5.99.

If you want the Breast Pump Asda had it on offer the other week not sure if it's still on:confused: £10 cheaper that Boots!!!:money:

But I use my avent BP and just tip it into the TT bottle. HTH.

Edit: a pack was two bottles and two teats!

    Thanks carmi,
i'm off to boots today, gonna use some of my advantage points. Just noticed on both my posts i put antibodies instead of antibiotics. Forgive me my brain has turned to mush while being pregnant/giving birth. Sometimes i'll be having a full blown conversation and then i'll forget what i was talking about. hormones i guess.

hi i use the closer to nature bottles when i go out and leave kenny with my mum and she took to them straight away, i was worried she wouldn't take to them but she gluped the milk down, but then she's a greedy b**ger! the only thing is she often struggles to get out the last oz coz it's in the teat and they are quite big so i can't tip the bottle right up.
i wouldn't use any other bottles.

LOL - join the club, my brain has turned to jelly! :D

Someone mentioned Dr Brown bottles - if you keep an eye on ebay you can get these at a far more sensible price than Boots etc. Search on Dr Brown but also on bfree or b free as this is another name used (not sure why - think there was some kind of legal dispute). I don't use their bottles anymore as daughter is past the colic stage, but she gets on best with their teats and I've found a seller on ebay who sells 6 packs of 2 teats for the same price as you can buy 1 pack of 2 in Boots. She also sells bottles from time to time (I got 2 large bottles from her for a fiver delivered instead of RRP£11), so if anyone wants her details, feel free to pm me. Don't think I'm allowed to give her user id on the forum. And btw, I certainly found the bottles helped with colic if anyone is going through that.

We used the Tommee Tippee closer to nature bottles for a few feeds with our son - unfortunately they gave him colic - so we changed to the Dr Brown's bottles.

If anyone is in the Newcastle area, there is a Tommee Tippee factory shop.
