Thanks Heather, good to get an explanation from a professional. :) This was actually the first time I used the scheme to get a free product, and was very pleased. I think round here all pharmacies participate in the scheme - I'm registered with the local Lloyds.

On a completely different subject, my DS1 (4) has started doing something weird. He complains of a sore lip at the front of his mouth, now we've had a look inside and can't see any marks or anything. He literally yelps out in pain sometimes (usually when eating) - we're not sure whether he's just biting his lip for some reason or what? It started completely out of the blue and has gone on for 3 days now, so I'm sure it's real IYKWIM, not an attention seeking trick or anything. Has anyone come across anything like this with their LOs? DS1 can't really explain what it is that's wrong.

I'm seeing the HV tomorrow so I'll ask her, just not sure whether to take him to the doc (and where do I find the time?). Argh. Anyway, off to bed...
  • I've read all the latest threads but so tired to type a constructive posts that I'm sorry ladies, but here is generic hug to everyone.

Purple, sounds like Izzy will be ok, but I understand what you mean about getting her to go through without milk. Does she have a dummy at night or some form of comforter? We were lucky with Jack, when he was 4 or 5 months he was still waking several times a night but only taking an ounze or two before either falling asleep or refusing the rest. So we just started putting a dummy in when he woke and mostly he would roll over and go back to sleep. If I get to him quick enough I don't wake up too much either. If she doesn't have a dummy, does she have a muslin or a musical toy? Can you pick something from her bedtime routine that signifies sleep?

LuT,sorry to hear you have PND, I was diagnosed with that early on when Jack was about 2 months and was put on AD's immediately. I noticed in a week or two I felt better, calmer, less tearful, more able to cope with Jack's crying and didn't feel so anxious. I weaned myself off them at 6 months, unintentionally and luckily just before I got pregnant again. I felt I didn't need them anymore. Before the AD's I tried St Johns Wort but my parents felt they weren't helping and my Mum dragged me to the doctor. Hubbie had been thinking about it but being at work wasn't seeing me at my worst where she was. I also tried Rescue remedy around that time and have since found out I can take it whilst pregnant so I've got the bottle out of the cupboard again to help me cope when I've just had enough and on my own. But since then not even needed any yet..........

Well so much for not typing much eh?

And to whoever said they are feeling bad as they shouted at their little one. Totally know how you feel, as if you recall I did that on Sunday and the guilt was bad! I've got over it now but Jack has been getting extra cuddles and kisses because of it. I think we have to accept that we are not perfect and although we try our best we also have limits. As long as its not a daily occurance i'm trying to accept the odd shout is inevitable.

    Anyway better go,

    Bay

Going to bed too myself now, after last nights shenanigans, but just thought I'd quickly say that DD1 also 4 had a mouth ulcer last week. She kept complaining about a pain and I couldn't see anything, until I really pulled her lip up and it was tucked right up inside on the crease where gum joins lip near her nose, if you get my drift. Hard to describe the location.

Have you had a really good delve? I'm putting it down to DD1 being a bit run down and tired having started school. She suffered for a few days, kept crying when she was eating poor thing. I get evil mouth ulcers from time to time when I'm run down, so she seems to have inherited that lovely gene!

I had to shine a torch in to see it, so perhaps worth another look in all the nooks and crannies!

Hi Bay, think that's part of the problem that she doesn't have anything, no dummy, muslin, comforter. She has a vast selection of toys that she will cuddle when in the mood, but if she's throwing a paddy and I offer a cuddly, she will look at it with absolute disgust and throw it with venom out of the cot. She has a bit of a temper on her! If only there was something I could give her other than a bottle that would calm her down.

Anyway, as I say, I'm off to bed now, after 2 or 3 glasses of vino to help me relax. Iz went to sleep really easily and I must confess that both of them have been given Medised at bedtime as they both have slight snuffles (perhaps that was the cause of last night), so fingers crossed they will sleep soundly tonight. Please!!!!!!!!!!!

And it was me that shouted - even the thought of her little surprised face before she started to cry brings tears to my eyes. Horrible mummy! Still, we made up pretty quickly with a big cuddle and I was soon forgiven. It isn't easy being patient at 4am!

Lu- Yes, she is teething at the moment, so perhaps another factor. It's hard to know isn't it. These babies should come with instructions eh?!

G'night all. Things can only get better.....
  • DS has been running a temperature off and on this week - probably due to his teething? (1st tooth through last Friday)He has now developed a cough, so I've given him medised and will consider taking him to baby clinic tomorrow. The problem is that no one at that clinic knows him - I generally take him to my GP's clinic, but that's not until Thursday.

Oh well, we all survived this stage- it's a really good job we can't remember it!

  • Hi,

My DD Katie was born on 14th April this year by emergency c-section - a decision I'm happy with as she was distressed.

I'm 31, married, on a DMP with the CCCS so live on this board at the moment.

DD is still exclusively bf on 3.5 - 4 hourly routine. She has a dreamfeed at 10pm that sees her through to 3am and then wakes up at 7am.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone

    MDW

P.S. That's her on the left at 10 weeks old.
Proud to be dealing with my debts

  • Hello MadDogWoman and welcome:D

Both of mine slept through so I'm actually feeling refreshed this morning, although I have got a sore throat today so looks like they've shared their germs with me:rolleyes: Hate having a cold:mad:

I'm taking Izzy to a local music group this morning for the first time. She adores music, always dancing and trying to sing, so it should be very sweet.

J_O_H - I remember at post natal group for DD1 we were told that although there were lots of symptoms of teething, a temperature wasn't one of them. I'm not sure if that's true, but probably best to go to the clinic today even though they don't know him, I'm sure they will be able to put your mind at rest.

Hi MadDogWoman! Your avatar is sooo cute...bless!!

Glad you've had a good night purplepatch, can sympathise with the germ sharing, I've woken up with a headache, sore throat and runny nose too. Natasha has had it all week, and I thought I'd escaped, but she was giving me lots of kisses yesterday (and I didn't have the heart to refuse), so I've finally caught it.

DS has a sore eye too so we've got to go to the doctors in a bit, which is about a twenty minute walk.....sigh.....I'm so tempted to use the car, but that would be lazy....wouldn't it? :o

Nice to meet you MadDogWoman. Your baby looks gorgeous!

My baby is slightly younger than yours. She was born on May 5th.

Well done on breastfeeding for so long. I've just had to give up as my milk went all rubbish, and Charlotte wasn't getting enough nourishment from it :(

Glad to hear you had a better night purplepatch, and *hugs* to all the poorly people!
Here I go again on my own....
