  • Terminallyshort...Why dont you get the emergency contraceptive pill... If you have a pharmacy open today near you ( our Asda pharmacy provides this free of charge) at least then your mind would be put at rest. Its amazing how much a couple of glasses of wine clouds our judgement ( your post made me smile:psorry) im 12 weeks pregnant with my 2nd ( my dd is almost 14) and Im sure it alcohol to blame this time lol

TerminallyShort, are you breastfeeding? If you are, chances are you won't be pregnant, although obviously nothing's 100% guaranteed. If you're not BFing, the chances of pregnancy are higher - I personally know two women who got pregnant within a few weeks of giving birth.

And yes, a couple of glasses of wine usually puts me in a good mood too. :D
  • Lu T: glad that Imogen was okay in the end.

Bailey: sorry to hear that things are difficult, I can't imagine how hard it must be looking after a child whilst being pregnant. I was too ill to look after myself never mind a child so I think you are doing really well.

Hi guys, hope you are well.

Hope Imogen is feeling ok from her first try at bungee jumping.

Bailey I hope you are better too.

Terminally, hope you are feeling ok about the 3 glasses of wine incident.

We are doing ok. Hayden had jabs week ago, then has had sniffles over weekend. He isn't settling well and is often only sleeping two hours in the night. Finding I'm tired, narky and moany a lot.

DD1 started nursery couple of weeks ago and today we had tears, not sure if she just tired as we travelled to a christening in Sussex yesterday which is over 2 hrs away, so got back at 9.30pm and she had slept poorly in car!

    Anyway have a good day.

  • Thank you susan, although I do have to say I have it easier than most women. I haven't had any morning sickness, just the odd bit of nausea where I've had to take it easy for a while as I've gone as white as a sheet and would have puked over a napppy or something. Luckily there has always been a friend, DH or my mum to step in for a few hours. I'm still on the same packet of mints that I bought in the beginning, so really I've been very lucky. Its the tiredness that hits me most and I think that is what brings me down and unable to tolerate Jack just being a baby at times. We had a good day yesterday, I made of point of chilling with him and not letting him/his food or his wriggliness upset me. His dad was around to get him ready for bed whilst I did the bottles, which was nice. Usually his dad doesn't get him until 7.30pm on a good day and 9pm on a bad, so only sees Jack in the morning, which makes it a long day for us both.

Jack had an upset tummy yesterday and still a bit this morning, which I think is his teeth as he is fine in himself. Just making sure he is drinking water and trying to not let his bum get too sore, its harder to give him an airing when I don't know if he's going to poo on the carpet!

He went down for his nap at 9.50am and I think just gone off now at 10.10, so it does seem to take him 20 mins to settle, but without any whinging or crying today. Tomorrow I will aim for 9.30, was going to do that today but we had to be at the docs for 9am and didn't get home in time.

Anyway i am feeling a little more chirpy, although tired, thanks for supporting me through my bad days.

My day has got worse as the day has progressed, I am really struggling!

Got to school to pick DD1 up, to be informed she has thumped another girl then proceeded to lie to the teacher about it and say the other girl hit her back which she didn't. She wouldn't give me the full story either, so that took ages to get to the bottom of it.

Then off to MIL, had chat and then went back to car to find drivers side wiper blade has been detached with the spring being pulled off from frame/arm of blade, just as the rain starts to fall! typical eh! Halfords don't sell spring, suggested I will need to get to dealer which is 20 miles away, and obviously I can't drive there in the rain. I am supposed to be taking SIL to hospital appt tomorrow but obviously that will be weather permitting.

Really cross as I was only going into town to get some of the "clinically proven" Johnsons baby stuff to see if that helps with bedtime. Obviously Karma bit me on the backside for some reason today.

    Nevermind it's nearly tomorrow!

Oh Jen, what a nightmare. Hope Hayden feels better soon. Alex looks like he's got my sniffles too so goodness knows what sort of night we're going to have.

Have had a manic day as well - this is the first time I've sat down properly all day (apart from BFing, which doesn't count :p). This baby malarkey is hard work sometimes.

Ha ha ha! :rotfl: That really made my laugh! I've been saying she's been skydiving without the parachute, but that's way more accurate!!

Hope you're all having better days girls.

Oh, forgot to say, think I've got PND - great! Nothing major, but I'm horrid to live with, at times completely irrational and can't make simple decisions. I feel out of control and not myself at all. Going to speak to HV about it at Imogen's 7-9mth check next week. A work friend confided in me yesterday that she'd also had PND and that made me feel able to talk about it. I don't want to get pigeon-holed, but she's persuaded me that getting help will make things better quicker.

    It's never simple is it?!

  • OMG I need to vent. Isabel woke up at 3am. I'd been up with her for 2 hours, offering water, pacing around patting and rocking, trying to get her back to sleep etc. After several unsuccessful attempts to put her back to bed, she finally fell asleep on me at 5 ish and I tried to put her back down but she immediately woke up again, stood up and started screaming. That set me off crying and DH came in to the "rescue". Sent me to bed and tried to calm her.

As I calmed down, I became aware of sucking noises coming from her room. He was giving her the remainder of last nights bottle, some 10 hours after it was made. By the time I managed to stop him, she'd already necked an ounce.

He was like "well how was I meant to know it was an old one"... so I suppose it serves me right for leaving it in the room (I always do in case she doesn't settle when she first goes to bed and I have to go up again) - DH never usually gets involved in getting up in the night, so there is that in his defence, but I'm not overly delighted that he didn't work out that the reason I'd been up with her for 2 hours was precisely because I didn't want to give her milk. Could hardly snatch the bottle away from her and then not offer another one, so she got her milk in the end and I've gone without sleep for nothing as I could have just fed her at 3am and had done with it.

AARRRRGGGHH. So fed up. Of course she's fast asleep now  I can't see the point in going back to bed as need to be up again at half 6, so I'm up now for the day.

And now I've got to worry for the next couple of days in case she gets some horrible stomach bug from the manky milk he just gave her. Her bedroom gets pretty warm and the bottle didn't have a lid on... :o:o

And I feel terrible as I shouted at her before this milk incident which made her cry... and now she might be ill...... crap mum.

Don't worry purplepatch - we all do daft things. It's these blinkin' hormones again ;)

Last week I thought I'd switched the steriliser on and ran it through a cycle, before making Charlottes bottle. Then later when I went to unplug the breadmaker to put it away, I realised that the steriliser was unplugged and it hadn't been on at all. I felt awful and was paranoid Charlotte was going to be poorly from drinking from an unsterilised bottle, but she was fine!

I'm taking Charlotte swimming for the first time today. She finally fits into swim nappies now and it'll be quieter going during the school day.
Here I go again on my own....
