We got a silver photo frame for Charlotte with space to put a picture of her at 1 year in the middle, then monthly pics of her from birth to 12 months round the edges. I thought it will make a nice record of how she has changed.

That looks a good price to me for the frame, as i've seen them in mothercare for £20, and a posh card shop at £25. I might just buy one at that price as i really fancied one, or perhaps buying them for the grandparents as a xmas pressie.

We have also been dead lucky with the nappy rash. Just odd pink patches now and again, usually when we have been out and about, but i am pretty regular at changing him. I have heard it can go bad when teething, and i think it is like anything else, some bubs are more prone than others.

We may need to make charlie walk round with a crash helmet on cos he is insisting that he wants to spend all day stood up, particularly holding onto the edge of the coffee table which then means everything has to be moved off where he can reach apart from one or two things which are safe to investigate.

Then when he is bored he just flops to the floor, and i swear he hit his head 5 times yesterday. I felt really bad, but i was with him, and just couldn't slow his fall down enough on those occasions. thankfully i did slow him down on probably 10x this number so it could have been worse.

Same here, mine is not only covered in nappy rash, but also covered in bruises. Turned round earlier to find her pulling herself up on the open dishwasher lid on a tiled kitchen floor. Keep telling her NOOOO!!!! in a stern voice, but it ain't working! She also likes standing in her cot and you suddenly hear a massive bang over the monitor, followed by a second or two of hush, before an almighty WAIL!!
  • Thanks for the tips ladies with the nappy rash, Jack gets an airing every day and so far so good, but he has no teeth yet, so i am expecting it. Hope all the littlies bots clear up soon.

I have a problem and have posted on the insurance board, but as yet no replies. I just wondered what you think I should do.

    "
I am looking for some advice please, especially if you work for an insurance company.

We got hit yesterday by the heavy rain and our utility attached to the side of the house was flooded. The room is approx 4 metres by 7 metres and a triangle shape.

It had a good couple of inches in there and I appreciate it could have been worse. However the lino is no good, furniture is knackered and potentially the washing machine and freezer might be no good either as they smell of water and cat pee.

DH gutted it today and stored everything worth saving in the garage and dumped the furniture out there too. Unfortunately I didn't have time to take picture of the water at its worse, but DH did take pictures during the clean up process.

Its probably going to be at least a £3,000 claim possibly more, but we are unsure whether to or not as we might be labelled flood risk. It wasn't a river or stream which got us, just an exceptionally large amount of rain running down our drive towards the house. The utility is a step down to the rest of the house, which fortunately is ok.

DH only said the other day it might be worth installing a gulley by the driveway in case of heavy rain, then 2 days later it happens.

    Our dilemna is:-

    1) Should we claim what we need to and say to the insurance company we are not in a flood risk area it was just circumstances and to prevent it happening again, we are going to install a rainwater gulley. But risk the premiums going sky high and getting labelled.

    2) Not claim and try to do the best we can, with what we got saved up but it won't be as it was.

We do not live near a river and are on top of a hill, so it is the driveway that caused the problem not the situation of our house.

We would appreciate some advice as with a 8 month old and another on the way we don't know what to do.

    Thanks a lot,

    Bay"

    Thanks for any advice.

    Hi Bailey,

No real advice about the insurance but just to say that i hope you get things sorted out with the flooding soon. Please try and put your feet up and rest a little!

Nathan has his 1year jabs tomorrow. Not looking forward to it at all as hes already quite clingy and tearful the last few days. He has been off his food a lot which is not like him and been very sleepy. I think it must be another cold but at least its not as bad as some of the earlier ones we had.

I also have a job interview tomorrow lunch time after his jabs. Im going to drop him off at the nursery and if hes unsettled pick him up an hour later and take him home for lots of cuddles.

Did everyone have a nice weekend? We spent the weekend doing house work!

    Hi guys

Wondering if I can join you.

I had baby no 3 on 08.07.07. My first boy. We named him Hayden Arnold and he weighed 8lb 2.5 oz at birth, 9 days overdue. Was born face first which was rather distressing for him and me but he is doing great and has put on weight already, last Thursday he weighed 8lb 5 oz.

Other two children really testing my patience today, need to organise myself so they have loads to do during holidays. Eldest is 4, middle 2 and it's her who is the monkey of the family.

  • Welcome Jenpoptab, sounds like you have your hands full, how do you cope with 3 children, do you ever get any sleep? I am preparing myself for a shock to the system come February when I'll have 2 under 15 months!!! I have no idea how i'll manage such a small age gap.

Jack has had a cold since Friday and subsequently now so have we, so we are alll feeling a tad under the weather and grumpy. Jack can't hang onto his dummy for sleeps so crying hysterically to sleep, which upsets me too. He also is struggling to drink his milk as he can't breathe, which concerns me as i'm worried about him dehydrating. I've been giving him sips of water. He much be feeling unwell as he usually naps for anything fro half hour to 90 mins, he is about to come up to 2 hours soon!!! Hopefully his little body is repairing itself. This is his third cold in his 8 months and both the other two lasted over 10 days, fingers crossed this doesn't.

Has anyone got or know anyone with a Urban Detour double buggy? I am thinking along the lines of shop doors, accessibility etc and would be handy to have some prior knowledge. Getting it into our house won't be a problem, but not sure about general day to day life.

The other possibility is the Jane powertwin, but I would rather have them side by side if possible.

Must go and get the little man's lunch ready before he wakes. He is eating his food well now i have stopped pureeing and only mashing it, including veggies. At last!!! I'll post more about that when more time especially for your purplepatch.. Hope your LO has picked up with her food again.

    Bye for now,

    Bay

Hi Bay, no advice re pushchairs or flooding, just sending some <<hugs>> as you're really going through the mill at the moment aren't you. Hope you're all feeling better soon.

We're making ok progress with food, not brilliant, but getting there. She's still much keener on proper food rather than purees, which isn't easy with no teeth, but she's getting pretty efficient with her gums. She bit my hand really hard the other day and it bloody hurt and left a big purple mark for ages! :rotfl:
