I think he is just one of them boys who will eat for England, and at 9 months there is always chance he might change his mind and not want to eat, so i am letting him eat what he wants.
He starts at nursery on the 20th of August, so if he is funny with them feeding him it will all level out.
Don't get me wrong I wasn't criticising, only admiring at what a good eater you have. At this age if they want it let them have it, as you say it could all go to pot later on.
My problem is getting Jack to try something. If he's not in the mood he wont open up even when its something I know he likes. He just doesn't give things a chance to find out what they taste like and then to find out its actually something he likes, not the highly suspicious poison he thinks it is.
Everytime I give him something new I usually get the pursed lips look, unless its fruit.0 -
Didn't think you were criticising. It was just me worrying about what i was doing aloud.
Told DH what he had had today, went through lunch time, and he said that isn't bad. Then i said, and for tea... :rotfl: It is weird with him being our first knowing whether we are doing the right thing, but he is happy so we can't be going too badly wrong.
Charlie dives on new food to try it. I put a selection on the tray of his high chair, and he goes for the brightly coloured things 1st. He also will eat sweet and savoury. I know i have been really lucky to now with him. He will probably be a fussy beggar at some stage.0 -

looking back through those pics are great, to see how much she grew... how fast etc
We got a silver photo frame for Charlotte with space to put a picture of her at 1 year in the middle, then monthly pics of her from birth to 12 months round the edges. I thought it will make a nice record of how she has changed. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Awwww, my poor little babe has horrendous nappy rash today. Same as a couple of months back when we went to the docs with it. Last time she was prescribed canesten with hydrocortisone, which did the job, but this time it's more stubborn. I've got a cabinet of various creams, bepanthen, metanium, drapolene etc, have tried them all, but it still looks so nasty. Looked like it was drying out a bit last night after a day of metanium but after a night of sleeping in a horrid huggies nappy and then this morning she did a poo on the way to dropping DD1 at preschool, so had to sit in it for 10 mins, by the time I got back her bum was red raw again
It's hideous, you put the cream on and the weeping sores wash it straight off.
Last time I was able to sit her on a towel and leave the nappy off, but now she's whizzing around the house like a thing possessed, I'm reluctant to do that as I'll end up with little puddles all over the house. Just going to have to change her ultra regularly so she's never in a wet nappy for more than a few seconds.0 -
Hi All,
Just been trying to catch up with all the posts while i have been away.
PP, i would leave your DDs nappy off even if its just for 10 minutes at a time at each change. The bugs which cause the nappy rash hate fresh air so it is the best thing. when its off try and keep her entertained for a while with cbeebies or a toy and keep her on a folded towel.
Apparantly camomile tea brewed quite strong and then a wipped on with cotton wool and left to dry in the air helps too. Or it has been suggested to put a damp liner in the nappy which has the camomile tea on. leave over night and people said it has done wonders!
Hope everyone is well.

Thanks moozikgal - I just tried to entertain her on her changing mat, we got to about 8 minutes before she lost patience and started screaming blue murder! Too many other things to do lol.
I've brewed some camomile tea, bit hot yet, but will certainly give that a go later.
It had calmed down a bit since the previous nappy change thankfully. Bloody nappy rash, it's so evil and goes from a bit of redness to open sores so damn quickly. DD1 hardly ever got it and only mildly, so this has come as a nasty shock.
Luckily though she doesn't seem that bothered by it. The doctor couldn't believe how chirpy she was when I took her down there last time she had it, even she had to gasp when she looked at it.0 -

Hey Becles, where did you get that from? Sounds lovely, a really nice idea.
Bailey - we give Imogen solids for brekkie, lunch and dinner, then bottles at 9.30am, 2.30pm and bed-time. The HV recommended we switch it this way round when she was eating far too much. Why don't you try giving him solids first (something he likes!!!) and his bottle later. Perhaps he gets full on the milk and is still depending on that, rather than solids, for his main fuel? Just a thought.
Imogen has put on 1lb in a fortnight. She's now 17lb 10oz and only 30 weeks - not quite 7 moths yet!
Purplepatch - bless her little cottons! Is it the damp that's causing the problem? Don't know if perhaps a real nappy will help? (If it's the damp, perhaps not) You could just buy one or two off Ebay and put her in them alternately with the disposables. I don't know if Imogen's immune to it, but she's never had nappy rash. Hope you find something that works for her.MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
we had kennedy at the dr last week as she had horendus (sp?) nappy rash, she's never had it before and she's 8 1/2 months, it was bleeding and red raw, the dr gave her nystaform hc cream and it cleared it right up,
purple is she teething? kenny got her 3rd tooth (at the top) 3 days after she got the nappy rash. she was a bit sore when she got the bottom 2 but nothing like last week.0 -

Lu and Heather, I'm not really sure what causes it, can't just be the dampness as she only gets it occasionally. We do think that it's connected to teeth but she still hasn't got any at nearly nine months!! Still, that's no surprise really as DD1 didn't get any teeth until her first bday!!! But things are definitely on the move, can see them in her gums and I think it makes her nappy contents more acidic or something.
Anyway I persevered with a mixture of canesten hc and metanium cream (superb stuff, best over the counter one I've found) and very regular changes and they seem to have done the job. The redness has gone now and we're just left with a couple of sore patches which are almost healed.
Poor little poppet.
I was looking in my local Waitrose yesterday and they had a Neal's Yard baby balm for putting on their bum every time you change them to prevent NR, had all sorts of lovely sounding natural ingredients and I was seriously tempted... until I saw the very non mse price of £12 for a tub. Think I might try using something mild like sudocreme every time instead - the doctor did recommend doing that actually. She said sudocreme isn't really meant as a treatment for bad nappy rash, more as a prevention, so will try it as have about 10 pots of it that I received as freebies, but never found it worked.0
