I'm not sure how much they cost Zippy but what about a bed guard - I know it wouldn't keep him in, but wondered if it would that make him feel more secure?

He has a Car bed (same size bed as a cot bed), so a bed guard wouldn't fit. It is one of the old style Little Tikes car beds, which has sides on the car to stop LO's falling out of bed.

Just getting our moneys worth out of it  - only cost £20! ;) and £40 for a new matress.

My Mum bought it (2nd hand) for our eldest when he outgrew his cot, now he has outgrown it so son number 2 is using it and when he outgrows it baby no. 3 will probably have it :money: lol

Congrats SarahLou, hope you're recovering from that "being hit by a freight train disguised as a newborn" feeling. Isn't it the best?!

    Great moneysaving Zippy! :money: :money:

Does anyone know where I can do that online benefits/tax credit check? My M-I-L is 'retiring' from childcare duties soon and won't be helping out with #2. I'm not planning on being pregnant yet, but have got a bee in my bonnet about how we'll afford childcare for them both when I'm at work.

I work 3 days and, doing a quick calculation, by the time we've paid out for childcare for them both I'll only bring home £250 and that won't be enough to live. Eeeek! Know it's well in advance, but it's niggling me. I'm not sure what help we might be entitled to, so I'd like to check it out so we can prepare ourselves & save like billy-o!

    Thanks girls!

    Congrats to Sarah Lou.

I'm getting one of those little tykes beds - a fire engine one - my sister was going to get rid of it, but i said could we have it, and then we may actually not have to buy another cot if i do fall pregnant quickly.

I sometimes put him in it to sleep at the moment when i pop to sisters house, so will be picking it up when she decorates.

She thinks i am a bit mad, but i also took her old cot bedding, because in my opinion if you will use it then why not.
